Powershot S2IS vs. S3IS

Are there enough new features/upgrades in the S3 to justify upgrading from an S2? The main reason I thought about upgrading was the larger size LCD screen, but is this reason enough? I am a novice but would like to improve my skills and am turning to those with more experience than I.

Check out the following link about this very question, it may be of some help to you. (I myself still have the S2, was going to upgrade but for me there was not that much of a difference, for others it may be, it all comes down to what do you want.)

No!

I own the S2 and see no reason to upgrade for the money involved. The S3 has a tad better performance at higher ISO numbers but, imho, this and other minor improvements do not justify the cost for an upgrade. The larger viewfinder is nice, but is it worth a few hundred bucks?

Personally, I'm waiting for the next generation, when Canon sensors do as well as the FujiFilm 30.

Have patience. And be satisified. The S2 is a very fine camera.

Most camera companies that come out with a son-of- camera secretly correct problems with the first issue without admitting that there was a problem. A responsible company will issue firmware updates to fix problems. A less that ethical company, Canon, will not issue you firmware since they want to sell a whole other camera. That is why my next camera will not be a Canon.

The S2 is now selling for around $250. There is no significant difference between the S2 and S3 except the price. because of the build quality don't count on either camera last more than a couple years even if you are careful.
