Just got the W20 have not looked at the manual just the quick start.
Here are some pictures and a movie sample.
The pictures are straight from the camera just resized for the web.
Once Ive read the manual will post better pictures and movie samples.
I had the camera as out the box so I didnt set for the correct mode.

I tried the zoom on the camera so you can hear the zoom noise yes it's bad so wont do that again. Quality not bad for the picture.

Apart from what Pentax advertises as the improvements over the W10 (higher megapixels, blur reduction), can you tell us about any other improvements (if you had the W10)?

Thanks for share with us your first pics...

Can you post some shots at full size? maybe at high ISO...

Thanks!

The movie was, I thought, nicely rendered (video) but the audio with that zoom was bad news.

Still, I can't wait to get mine - my new "wet cam" to replace my old olympus stylus weather resistant camera.

No offense is intended as the W10/W20 is on my "list" of potential cameras but they pics don't look very sharp to me whereas owners of the W10 are reporting very sharp outdoor pics....maybe you need a day to play around with the settings? Thanks for sharing though as a "pioneer" :-)
Sorry I have never had my hands on the W10
But the W20 does not seem as solid as the Fuji 4800 my last compact.

No worries no offence taken I did these straight from the box, as an example. They were 3 of the first 5 pics ever taken.

I agree they are not as good as some Ive seen from the W10 and now I've read the manual I can see were to improve.
Compared to my Nikon D200 there is no comparison.
Now I know were to change the ISO will try a shot at all ISO for you guys.

Greetings,

I want to buy this camera now and I'd like to know where you bought it and how much you paid.

Thanx so much!

Ebay £202 from Hongkong seller this included 2gb sd card and the postage.

With some gifts, lens paper an extra battery back screen protector and mini tripod.

All in all not bad value I thought, I've taken more pictures and I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Only grip is I'm so used to the DSLR focusing super quick that I keep forgetting this is only a little point and shoot.

Batteries arn't lasting that long yet but after a few disscharges and recharges the time will increase but handy to have the second battery.

Havent found how to keep the focus in the centre yet but I will over the week end and will post more shots.

  • and I'm waiting for the battery to charge up.
I am moderately impressed by the seals. The battery and memory cover has a locking tab to prevent inadvertant opening, and under the hatch cover this is a nice albeit thin rubber compression seal. It does not appear to be easily user changable.

The cotrol buttons appear to be sitting on top of membranes - perhaps they compress interior buttons inside a water proof membrane,
The lens is behind a piece of protective glass.

Overall, the camera looks like it is designed to give good weather resistance in the short term of perhaps 2 years (just a guess) - likely consistant with the presumed introduction of it's replacement in 2 years or less.
Hopefully I'll get to take some px this weekend
