oly c700uz

Hi,

Can you be a little more specific? I've taken some macro shots that I have been pleased with and I have seen images from other photographers using the C700 in macro mode and there shots were very nice as well.

It would help if you could show us some of your images.

Thanks,
Bill

Hello,

You can use closeup lenses..i have a set that i got including a +1, +2 and +4 , with a nice rigid leather case for 39$ on ebay, 52mm. If you don't have the adapter tube already, you will need it.

I got a set of UV, Polarizer,52mm adapter tube and closeup lenses for 68$ on ebay.

There is the CLA-4 i think, but its 55mm and so its bigger and you can have more shadow with the flash on macro mode, so better stick to 52mm.

52mm is what i recommand.

you can stack them up to produce stronger effect, but I don't recommand stacking more than 2 closeup lense together as there can be some image distortion on the edge. With +2 and +4, the total magnification is +6.

The other good point is that those closeup lenses or "filter" let you get much closer. I can focus at around 2" with them on.

You can check my sample images taken the closeup lenses:

http://www.pbase.com/c700

check the gallery for macro closeup lense.

The closeup lenses are actually filters, the same size as regular filter but the magnify and also let you focus closer.

I got pretty good result with them.
Please can anyone tell me if macro mode for oly c700uz can be
improved in any way?

Yes there is also the B-Macro. Althoug i would start with the closeup lenses are they are cheap..you can find a set of 3 for about 29$ at Ritz or on the internet...ebay is nice for that.

If you decide later that you really like macro photo and want to get better results, you can get the b-macro. although i am not sure the results are much better..i have not seen yet samples from the C700 with the B-macro

yes, by using a set of close up filters or buying the Oly B-Macro.

Nikon is really hard to beat on the macro part...but the zoom and night photography is not good. You can get pretty close to the Nikon if you are using those closeup filters i mentioned later and if you would be using a B-macro lens i think you would get similar result as Nikon.

And the C700 have full manual balance for difficult low light shot without flash.
