Really? You think links to free articles constitute "Commercial Advertising" (the only relevant banned activity I see). Gosh, I hope not, since I value following posted links to articles from Thom Hogan, Bjorn, Nikon, etc.

A very useful article Ron--well illustrated and laid out.

However, please let me, as a professional writer, comment on your writing. The second half of your article is well-written, conversational and very easy to read. On the other hand, you start out in a style that may put many readers off. The "one should do this..." school of writing went out with Hardy. I lost count of the times you used the word "utilize" but by the end you'd switched entirely to the shorter, smoother and more correct "use."

I hope you won't be offended by my post. I'd have e-mailed you privately if I knew your e-mail address. Please take it as a gift in exchange for the gift of this photography lesson and the many others I've received from you.

Second that. Ron's articles are a more valuable contribution to the forum than a lot of the nonsense we see here ex. did you notice all the pros have white lenses? Selling my nikon to buy a canon; please critique this picture of my cat ...

I've been following your articles for some time, and appreciate your effort

Maybe you should have posted here with a title of 'are effective foregrounds important' and the article your content. No can that you still would have been flamed.

Sure the site is ad-supported but so are most these days.

I always find well thought out articles on composition help my thinking on photography and I need all the help I can get - so keep it up!

I really don't understand you post, Ron is helping with his work here and I am sure it's ok with Phil since Ron has been doing that for a while.

Thank you Ron for your threads, thank you Mironv for the fun attitude you bring to this forum, I love people that think positive

Ron,

I love free stuff! Keep posting links to your articles. I much prefer your educational posts to those that have little value to the forum ("I just got my D200; now what do I do", "Look at my cat taken with a D200", "I'm going to Yellowstone; what should I shoot", etc.).

Hi Ron

Thanks for all the excellent articles you have posted to the forum. Ignore the silly complaint, as some others have pointed out, I much prefer getting the links and reading your articles than all of the irrelevant drivel some people post ie: When is Nikon going full frame, I'm switching to Canon, please critique my shots (when all are out of focus) etc.

Keep up the good work, I have certainly learned a lot from your articles, and I believe many others have too.

Best Regards
Rick

Look at the OP's posting history. Almost no posts other than links to his ad-supported site. He never responds to thank-you-for-posting's, etc. Nothing. He just comes here, dumps a link to his ad-supported site (duplicated across several forums), and never responds again.

'That's what Jagulars always do,' said Pooh,
much interested. 'They call 'Help! Help!'
and then when you look up, they drop on you.'

Thank you for sharing this interesting article. Much more in the spirit of this forum than questions like "should I go to competition?"
Do it again!

Francois
