*** CTF Mini Challenge #119 - One second + ***

and another one.
four seconds with a cheap train. our one was still six hours away.
I almost missed this one as you didn't change the subject. :) And it would be shame, because I like this shot very much! The blurred blue train, the girl sitting motionless and reading, the sign in the background, they all make a good photo. I'd have shot it a bit more from the left as not to cut the girl's head with the post in the background.

Brisbane 10sec
Lovely. The blue light is a bit too strong for the otherwise warm-colored shot, but on the whole, I'm envious that you get a chance to shoot scapes like this one. Not many skyscrapers that high on a waterfront where I live. :((
Loo Roll 2sec
LOL! This is hilarious. And very imaginative, I have to admit. Love the colors, love the composition. Not to mention to subject. ;)
Another great shot. Be careful, Rod, or you might win. :p
I really like the colors and details, but I wish the sax wasn't cut off.

An interesting subject and approach to shooting it! I do find the light too direct and flat though, with reflections from the flash. Maybe a long exposure without the flash and with other sources of light would provide a better result?

Thanks...gave me a really good laugh and needed one today. Was up at 4:30am with a sick hubby and off to the Doc as soon as the sun came up. YUK

hi Ana
thanks for your feedback.

regarding the 3rd one, no it's not handheld(!). as I mentioned in the previous challenge where I entered it, the camera was attached to the RH passenger hand grip above the door using an Ultrapod II, then fired with IR remote and self timer.
thanks again!
1. "Tomorrowland" - with the Astro Orbiter in motion behind - 1sec
f/3.2, Canon G2, Disneyland, California
Nice shot, full of color. The letters may be a bit too bright, but
I do know how difficult it is to overcome contrast in such pictures.
2. "Dandelion Seed of Light" - 2sec f/10 - zoomed during exposure,
Canon 20D, HSBC Celebration of Light, Vancouver, BC
Very imaginative! Zooming during exposure can create such wonderful
results. I like the combination od white and red forms and colors.
And the title of the photo fits very well.
3. "BiTurbo Blur" - 2sec f/8.0, Canon G2
This is a great photo. Don't tell me it was taken handheld?? I
really like the streaks of light showing the motion and the
dashboard, which is in focus. The rear mirror adds to the
composition too.

thanks Anna, your comments are always right on spot, with a great value.

I wish I'd had a second chance on that one too, but trains won't wait.
thanks for the comments.

The first shot has a great look to it & look at the strange shadow around the edge of the shot:-)

I think the plain border on the second shot looks more classy but no comment on the sig:-)
Very good entry, well done:-)
Regards Rod

The water & palms have a really nice look, I would crop it just below the lights as this looks great for me then.
