What’s the hurry about … (8 pics F30)

Hugo

You need to get a medium format camera and print massive pics.

To start you could past one of that guy on the wall on the wall beside him? if that makes sense, and maybe one of the steps beside the steps? etc

Turn your town into a gallery. Maybe the council would pay you, give you a grant, or even do the work of putting them up?

My commision of course is very reasonable ;))

To be honest, I'm really interested to get a DSLR lately. However, everytime I played with one in a camera shop, I couldn't help asking myself the same question: would I still carry this whole gear everyday and everywhere like I'm doing now? I might get one in the end ...

Thanks again for all your great ideas! :-)

Best regards,
Hugo

The entire series is awesome, but no. 7 is best of all imho.
I just love how you cought the people moving and the person in the
image that seems looking at them from an atemporal time.

Lunch time here, I got a Nikon D50, with some new and old lens, before a bought the F30, and I do love the Nikon, but the F30 goes where I go, is a lot of fun using it (F30), latley I tink I used F30 more than Nikon. That said, the D50 can do better in many situation than the F30, and need less PP (I shot only in JPG). And if you ask me, I think a Leica (film) camera suit your style best.

Lunch time here as well.:-) Thanks for your tips. I'm particularly attracted by the shallow DOF of a DSLR.

Hi Hugo, you said: "I'm particularly attracted by the shallow DOF of a DSLR."

This is major diference betwen a DSRL and F30, but for good shallow DOF, along with the body, you will need some very good lenses, with apert. 1.4/1.8/ or 2.8, the package does not come cheap, in other hand you will have some very nice equipment for many years.
Have fun.

You probably won't....

I have a DSLR and I am currently looking at the Fujifilm F30 (the reason I'm here) to use it next to my Canon 20D. In the beginning I also used to take the DSLR everywhere I went, but after I bought some better lenses and added an external flash (you want to be prepared for everything) it became a bit annoying to take it everywhere.

Furthermore I am becoming more interested in street photography and a compact cam is a bit more discrete.

I will use the DSLR when I know I am going to take photographs (concerts, vacations, trips etc.) but for everyday carrying around, a compact is probably better suited.

As usual, late to the party... hurrying around has been my week and this is the first minute I've had to look at your pics.

Great set of images - something a bit new for you too.

My favs are the stairs - catching one foot still while the other is in motion - just the right touch , and a great shot.

All the Best

Awesome pictures! You have a very good eye and steady hands Hugo! I am relatively new here so forgive me for asking questions that are quite obvious :D I was wondering whether you apply any post processing the these photos or are they straight from the camera? Thank you :)

Sorry for my late reply ... but this is the first minute I've had to come to the Forum since Monday! :-(

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!

These were all post processed. Though I'm not a fan of digital art, I must say I really enjoy seeing a photo being enhanced through some appropriate and subtle PP. FYI, I've been using PS elements 3.0 for quite a while and here's my standard PP workflow again:

neat that you are playing with motion. One of my favorite techniques, 4-7 are the best for me mainly due to their stronger compositions and sense of drama. Good stuff HP.

PS: We have a family member now living in China. She is in Suzhou the Shanghai area. We just may visit if she stays for more than 6mo. (?)
