What photo quality paper does everyone prefer???

I have an Epson 760 printer and have only used the epson Photo Quality Paper and have not been overly impressed with the prints (but this could be something to do with colour managment)...

So what paper has every one found prints the best???

I've tried Epson, Kodak, and HP high gloss premium papers, and Jet Print Photo Satin (made by international paper and available at Walmart). I have a Compaq printer and the HP was absolutely horrid. I'm sure it is good paper - as long as you have an HP! The other glossies were all good. COSTCO has a great deal on the Epson (100 sheets for $20 and the Kodak 100 sheets for $24). The one that makes the best prints for sure is the Jet Print Satin. Hope this helps.

BTW - I tried some printer canvas I got from office depot. It makes really great prints when you transform you image into watercolor or oil print.

My vote is for Epson S041257 Heavyweight Matte Paper

To buy this try: http://www.amazon.com then search for Epson S041257 Heavyweight Matte Paper

I've been print on this matte paper with a new Epson 1280 and am very pleased with the results. This is the best price I could find.

I also highly recommend Photoshop Elements software to tweak the images before printing. I noticed that you can get different results on the same printer when printing from different software packages.

Hi,

I have a Canon s800 printer and I use Canon Photo Paper Pro and could not be happier..Except for the price..The prints are VERY close if not the same quality as film prints done at a lab!!!
hope this helps...fossil

I have an hp 1115 and use the hp photo glossy premium for the 4x6 and lumijet pearl for 5x7 and 8x10. lumijet has a very large variety of papers that will fit the need of most... http://www.luminos.com

When I do a "painting" type picture. ie recolor, pastel, etc. I use their canvas and the print is unreal. I buy mine from a local camera shop. If you go to their site, I believe they have a listing of local dealers.

They offer a sample pak too.

enjoy,

frank

Where did you find this printer? I want to buy it but I can't find a store that has it in stock. What price did you pay?

I just tried ILFORD Galerie - Smooth Pearl Paper. It is a luster finished paper.

It worked very well in my 785EPX. Of course Epson Premium Photo Glossy is fantastic also.

I like the Epson matte, Premium Glossy and Soft Luster. All terrific. I also have good results with the Red River Papers....many of them. Canon works well too. I have an Epson 1280 printer.

Here are my 2 cents worth: You generally get the best "easy" results using the original manufacturer's paper and ink. I don't use much Epson paper anymore (see below), but my memory is that "Photo Quality" is a far lower quality paper than "Photo Quality Glossy". Yes, that is confusing!

There is a big wide world of papers and inks out there. Some are better than Epson's, some are the same quality but cheaper. But, to use them fully, you typically need to make custom profiles. This assumes that you have first profiled your monitor. See this company for examples:

Personally I'm fond of Red Rivers papers, but think they are far better with custom profiles:

Hope that helps.

This is what I use. Office Depot premium high gloss photo paper. Its cheaper than epson or cannon or hp and I cant tell the difference. I use on an Epson 785epx printer with print image matching which by the way is a great feature since my 707 supports print image matching.
