A new Sigma DSLR would be a surprize!

Hi all,

I just note from DPreview's site that they have a provisional show report covering 20+ new products, and to my dismay under the Sigma section only two lenses are mentioned.

It would be quite a surprize if a new camera is introduced there and let's hope that it is a matter of keeping everything under wraps very effectively!

I would think that while Sigma Japan does not officially announce that they're out of the DSLR business, a new SDxx is most likely on the way.

You mean, apart from Sigma Germany themselves saying that they'll
have a new DSLR on display...?

Yes, we all read these posts and other rumours, but I just wonder why Sigma JP is so tight lipped. All "sources", including Sigma D talk about this, and if Sigma D can do so, why can't we get official confirmation from Sigma JP? All we need is confirmation, nothing else! DPreview is normally quite good at sniffing out news, but it would appear that they are not even prepared to comment on any of these rumours.

I sometimes just get that uneasy feeling that I might be disappointed, but I would be ecstatic if we do see this!

What you are implying is that they would, which is not true. I am sure that Phil is as informed as anyone else, but what is unusual about dpreview compared with almost all the other sites is that he keeps to his NDAs and embargo deadlines.

There are still only rumours and no official comments on any new camera, I would also be surprised (and glad) if Sigma released a new camera. While sigmas competitors announce new cameras in time to photokina sigma only displays new lenses. If they had a new camera coming, why keep quiet?
 
I gurantee that Sigma has a camera?

It's interesting that Google auto-corrects if you spell it Austin - could lead to not noticing.

There is also the following sentence: '"You are mistaken," said he gently, "that is not good company; that is the best.'

But if you read farther, next comes the subject of 'birth' - supposed class rears its ugly head.

Followed by 'but a little learning is by no means a dangerous thing'.

Good thing we keep learning, don't you think?

I just like correcting grammar or spelling of someone who has just finished correcting grammar or spelling of another. If I was Oscar Hammerstein II, I'd make a song out of it. Guess I don't always find everything. ;-)

Has a camera, or WILL have a NEW camera? If you can guarantee this, you probably have some insider information which you most likely would not part with.

If your guarantee is good, we would all rejoice. If not, you can buy me another SD10 somewhere.

don't worry... sigma is working on a new DSLR and some said its high iso is almost as good as the canons...
