I have not really looked the DP Reivew forums for about 6 months, I used to read alot of the jibberish on the Canon sections here ( i still own my 5D ).

I went looking for a small compact camera about 3 weeks ago and since I really like to shoot wide angle stuff - I had to have the Kodak V570 - and of course I had to buy one ( which I did )

I love the camera for what it does ( small size and I can take it with me anywhere and it fits in my pocket )

But now that I have started reading the threads on this Kodak Forum, I realize that this forum is so much more interesting then the Canon Forum.

You folks do not get into the personnal attacks and actually post good info and nice photos, way to go !!!! I feel like I have a new place to hang out on the internet ( as if I didn't already )

thanks to all
and to all - keep the info & photos flowing

Kent

Welcome Kent!! You just found the best kept secret on the net. Lots of VERY nice people here and it seems that it's more about the photographs than about technically perfect photographs. We just really like posting and viewing pics and hearing the stories about the pics!! So come on in and put yer feet up, it's a nice place to hang out.

Amen to that. I've been looking at the Canon and Fuji forums for the last couple of days and I agree that the Kodak people are the friendliest...much like Kodak cameras :) Plus we have an actual Kodak employee in Mike who's a wealth of information as well as extremely helpful to all the faithful here. That says a lot about the company as well as it's end users. Canon and Fuji may make fun of Kodak, but from what I've seen on the forums there certainly isn't anywhere near the same brand loyalty that Kodak has.

Welcome to the fun house!

It is great to have you aboard!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome
as soon as I can, I will post some of my pano shots ( I love that thing )
however it may a little bit before I can post 'em

my computer at home ( not this one - I am at work supposedly "working" hahaha ) is in need of some serious repair work which i hope to have fixed this evening

and in response to the post about "photos" vs the technocrap posts - I totally agree with you - thats what i noticed about this forum you guys really like to talk photography and not what is wrong with the equipment the poster is using - this is what photography is really all about ( i.e. images and photos and not how big of mega nonsense a person has )

you guys rock

David Davies - Room for at least one more Kent. You'll never meet a nicer bunch of weirdos. Did think, like Graucho, that any club that would have me wasn't worth joining but there wasn't anyone here when I joined so that's alright.

Welcome Kent.

Another good thing about the Kodak forum is that you can post photos here taken with your Kodak V570 or your Canon 5D. Many of us own other cameras beside our Kodak's. There is no problem with people posting photos taken with non-Kodak gear here. Try to do that in another forum.....

Welcome Aboard Kent.Im a Refugee from the canon forum myself, there's a few others as well.We like each other, post pictures of interest, dont complain lol. It's kind of a rule if you want criticism on a post of yours just Ask,that's it.Having a kodak camera is great buy lots of us have other brands as well.We love photography, the type of camera you have doesn't matter.Best regards Bob.

Kent, welcome to the forum.

As you said this is a very friendly, helpful forum. Many of us also have other camera brands and frequently post pictures from those cameras on this forum. Here it is more about the pictures and the friendships than the camera.

Glad to have you joining Kodak forum. Welcome. Nevermind posting your pics from other cameras. We would like to see the your side of the world.
I have Kodak DX6490 digital camera, which is my first DC.

I am pleased that you have realistic expecations from you pocketable P&S camera. While some reviewers like this site tend to test everything by charts and tables consumer loves something else about their cameras.

"Nevermind posting your pics from other cameras" he means it is quite O.K. and not to let it bother you. Remeber though, no squirrel pictures.
