I took photos at my nephew's baptism tonight and crossed the 16,000 shutter release mark with my D50. I got it on October 29th last year, so I guess I've been giving it a good workout. It's a great camera, and has held up perfectly. It's very well built, and if it does ever bust, I'm going right back in to get another one.

Here's shot 16,001.

Just trying to learn and it's slow going!

I'm at 12k + and going strong. Everytime I think about moving up to a so called better body I just take a look at one of my creamy ISO 1600 shots and it stops me cold.

PS I thought I took a lot of pictures:)

how long do these last? I remember it being RATED for 50,000?
So we have 16,000, I hear 20,000, going once.............going..

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - ' Wow! What a ride!'

I am sorry, D70..

I still have my rusty old d70 and agree if it works then keep it, a shutter replace is cheaper than a dust collector.

Really I am smiling

I had heard it was close to $300.00, but I can't verify that for sure.

will if that's the case i'm giving mine away if my shutter ever takes a dump ( i recently picked up another d50 with just 2500 clicks on it for $350 and that was with an extra 1gig ultra2 card)
