D200: Activing shutter remotely?

Yes, the "standard" remote is the 10-pin corded remote, the MC-30. It runs around $55 at B&H, but it's back-ordered. You can also use the ML-3 remote transmitter at about $165, but it's also back-ordered. I had an MC-12B from my N70 days which is a 2-pin remote. I got the MC-25 adapter to convert it to 10-pin and it works fine. Both the MC-12B and MC-25 are in stock, and the combo will run about $105.

The ML-3 can be used on the D200. It's been around for a while for other 10-pin SLR/DSLR's. You mount the receiver on the hot shoe (doesn't need the contacts, just sits there) and you use a remote transmitter. $165 at B&H, but back-ordered at this time. Don't confuse this with the ML-L3 used with the D70.

Received one of the Twin1 (zigview) remotes this week. Only had time to attach and activate a couple of times. Not really that bulky at all. The round sensor is slightly larger than a quarter in diameter and sticks out from the front of the camera about an inch. Transmitter is like your car key fob. These can operate both in wireless as well as wired mode. I think I remember that "bulb" operation is only available in wired arrangement. Hope this helps you and others.
