2100 Everything you need to know (clean thread)

Wow! Sure enough mine does the same thing. It remembers ASA 100
as long as I don't shut it off in P mode. Another odd bit is that
after I turn it on again, if I do set it in P mode it again
switches to Auto ISO.
Arrrrrrgh! Why didn't I read this until after I spent about 6 hours trying to discover what I was doing wrong trying to keep the ISO setting in P mode!!!

Thanks.

This message should bump the thread so that others who, like me, got an uzi for Christmas may see it. Drat, I wish search was functioning.

Hi all.

I think it was Sandbox who first brought up this link to a site with great B&W photos. You may wish to check out some of this guys pictures and then follow the link to "My Process". There's a description of how he makes a simple colour picture into B&W art. His pictures are all taken with a simple Kodak camera but his end results are amazing.

P.S.: I appreciate the bumping of this thread but please post the bumping in the bumping section to keep the thread easily readable (and make the subject title "Bump" or something. As a matter of fact please include a subject title to every post in this thread that contains the essence of the post.

I hope you all will pardon my posting something other than advice. But I just got my E-100RS the other day, and this is one of the first pictures I took. I am a complete novice and don't yet know how to deal with things like all the glare in the background. Sorry about the paint on the truck, i know it doesn't meet your specifications. But, it is original and this '52 Dodge definitely has that old truck smell.

Dont have a problem with mine. P mode indicates ISO100 all the time.

Check MENU 5/5, MODE SETUP, 1/3 ALL RESET... set this to OFF.

Your cam should now hold all setting over the power on/off/on sequence.

Hi, I'd like to thank Shawn who direct me to this thread. I hope it's alright if I ask a question here. If not and will mess up the cleaness of this thread let me know and I will delete this post.

For the people that had had either dead pixels AND/OR SDS with the 2100, how responsive has Olympus been to this? And what is the turn-around time when you get your camera back.

Thanks bunches for this info. I have 30 days to make a decision wheither to keep this or bring it back

Hi Kuby.

It's perfectly ok to post a question here. Alas I can't answer this one but I encourage changing the subject title to make the information easily accessible. Hope somebody jumps in soon to answer your question.

Has anyone else seen this problem? I have it on my camera as well. Has anyone contacted Olympus about it? Is there any fix?

Flora
I'm trying to set my UZI so that it always uses ISO 100. I've set
up the reset options so it doesn't reset the ISO setting.
Unfortunately the camera is set to Auto as soon as I power down and
back up again.

After a bit of research I've come to the conclusion that this is a
firmware bug that got introduced to the NEW versions of UZIs. My
camera version is v352u-74. As a final test, I set my ISO to 200
and did a power cycle. The camera REMEMBERED ISO 200. Set it to
100 and Il get auto. [sigh]

Is there any fix for this problem short of sending the camera back
to Olympus? (Wouldn't it be nice if there was a firmware update
utility that worked through the USB!)

They say me in olympus service:
when you have 1 deadpixel in seting F2,8 1sec. it's a reason to reclamation.
They send me new camera in one week.

Good day to everybody.
(sorry for my poor english)

Wow that's very encouraging....I have one dead that shows up all the time and one that showa up @ 2.8, 1sec.

I am going to deal with it for now, and then return it in about two three months..

Just don't have the time to drive to the store and start testing cams out.

I guess you have to put the problem in perspective.....how much pain is it causing, then when can I be without my beloved cam for a couple of weeks.

It depends on the version of firmware in the camera. Tossing one of my JPG into notepad I see: OLYMPUS OPTICAL CO.,LTD C2100UZ v352u-74

If you have this version of firmware, you have this problem. The settings in the camera are 100% correct but it still does an Auto reset if you are in "P" mode. This is a bug in the firmware.
