Its nice to see vancouver again.

I was there last year, and had almost the same idea as you!. I like the use of the Cokin Grad, sometimes those colour grads can look a little out of place, but i'm happy to say not here. great capture.

Here's one of mine from this time last year:

I agree, it's a little distracting. They are for boat and seaplanes. They are the part of Vancouver, I think.
Esso (Exxon) fill up stations is not there anymore.
I try not to zoom in too much. Quite to hard to compose.

Those stations are for filling up sea planes which are a huge part of downtown - Stanley Park/Vancouver Harbour area.

As for the cranes; Vancouver, with the real estate prices there now, it’s a big construction site. New high-rises are going up like crazy.

To the OP: Nice shot. Is that taken from the cruise ship?

Nice shot John:). I quite like the tank station because of the blue colour it gives. It fits well with the skyscraper :). As for the cranes, it's all part of the picture of the city these days, isn't it? :-). There's one hiding behind the skyscaper and one to the right. Thus is the right one gets cropped out, it might be a good idea to clone out the one hiding there too.

I like the picture. I think it'd be interesting to see how it looks if a little bit more of the sea was cropped out... even though I do like the uneven sea "level"... more bits of the sea on one side of the pic compared to the other.

Thanks for sharing. I like the colour of the sky.

Hi,

Great image, but I agree the garage does distract a little. However, we have to take what we find! Some would suggest that it could be taken out in post processing, but I'll leave that debate alone!

I think that that is the Five Sails restaurant, which I visited a couple of years ago; brings back the best of memories so thanks for sharing.
