What would you think of this lens as a "standard 50mm" for the D30? It would double as a nice wide angle for a film-based EOS I plan to get at some point also... The other option I've been looking at is the 35mm L...Canon 24/1.4L
A lttle too wide. I use a 28/2.8. Small and cheap and with an effective focal length of 44mm. A 35 would give you 56mm. If you need a fast normal lens they are available in both focal lengths. What would you think of this lens as a "standard 50mm" for the D30?Canon 24/1.4L

However, a used 500 Apo Tessar T* for the 'blad is very tempting --
for that occasional subject that's close enough. And I want a Nikon
CS8000... And hey, while I'm at it why not a Fuji GX618 with a
Luma back, 500 lens, Macro, a selection of wide angles, and hey
why not an Xpan if I can scan it myself.

Hmm, makes sense. Good point. I was just thinking of going with strictly "L" lenses as I prefer available light shooting (can't stand flash). I can see how it would be a bit wide, though - at an effective focal length ofA lttle too wide. I use a 28/2.8.
