I will start:

50/1.4
135/2.0L
100-400 L IS

In the near future:

70-200/2.8L IS
24/1.4L or 16-35/2.8L

I own....

Canon 50mm f/1.8 mkII (Great for the price)
Sigma 20mm f/1.8 (Love it)

Within in next few months (or days for that matter) I plan on getting...

Sigma 105 f/2.8 Macro
Either the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 or the Canon 70-200 f/4 with a 1.4x extender

In the not so important needs.....
a Sigma 14 or 15mm

and maybe a Canon 35mm f/2 since they are cheap and it'll fit inbetween the 50 and 20 good.

20 f2.8 USM
28-70 f2,8L
100 f2.8 Macro
200 f2.8L
Kenko Pro 300 1.4X and 2X TC's.

On the wish list, the 400 f4 DO IS. That'll be the last one. I promise.

OK, maybe a 50 f1.4. And replace the Kenko's with Canons. But that's it!

Seriously, I promise. Johnocchio.

I will start:

50/1.4
135/2.0L

As far as EOS/EF lenses, sadly just a cheap Tamron 28-300mm right now. I plan on getting the 16-35mm and 28-70mm L lenses, certainly and probably some variation of the 70-200mm. I'm almost tempted to get primes, being an old-school kinda photographer, but I think these days the zooms have improved remarkably, and after reading all the reviews on these lenses, they seem to be pretty good indeed...

My FD glass is another story:

28mm f/2 Canon FD
50mm f/1.2L Canon FD
50mm f/1.2 Canon FD
50mm f/1.8 Canon FD
100mm f/2 Canon FD
500mm f/8 Canon FD
-
18-35mm Samyang (now Phoenix, vacation lens)
35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 Canon FD (vacation lens)
70-210mm f/4 Canon FD (a legendary lens)

I also have a busted up but still working "user lens" that's a 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5 Canon FD. Completely plastic like the newer 50mm f/1.8 EF II and a POS... I also have another 50mm f/1.8 Canon FD... They multiply like rabbits when left alone in the cabinet.

I'll probably pick up more "L" glass in the FD format, but I'm in no rush at the moment, needing EF lenses more... I'll certainly get the FD-EF adapter just for the occasional use of the FD lenses on the D30 or EOS 3/1V I plan on getting. On the 100mm and 28mm f/2 lenses above, I went with those over similar "L" glass because a) they were cheaper, b) used 52mm filters like the 50mm (I have a lot of Cokin filters) and c) were as good as similar "L" lenses or at least way above average.

Sigma 15-30 EX DG
Canon 24/1.4L
Canon 28-70L
Canon 50/1.4
Canon Macro 50
Canon TS-E90
Canon 400/5.6L
Canon 600/4L IS
Canon 1.4x
Canon extension tubes (2x25, 1x12)

I don't need anything else, so have no plans to buy more.

However, a used 500 Apo Tessar T* for the 'blad is very tempting --
for that occasional subject that's close enough. And I want a Nikon
CS8000... And hey, while I'm at it why not a Fuji GX618 with a
Luma back, 500 lens, Macro, a selection of wide angles, and hey
why not an Xpan if I can scan it myself. :-)
I will start:

50/1.4
135/2.0L
100-400 L IS

In the near future:

70-200/2.8L IS
24/1.4L or 16-35/2.8L

Canon 24/1.4L
What would you think of this lens as a "standard 50mm" for the D30? It would double as a nice wide angle for a film-based EOS I plan to get at some point also... The other option I've been looking at is the 35mm L...

Currently:

50/1.4
28-135IS

In the near future (within six months):

70-200IS and both Mark II converters

Within the next year:

16-35L
100/Macro

Perhaps if I ever get good enough:

A long prime like the 300/2.8, 400/DO, or perhaps some other DO lens that is in the R&D pipeline or drawing board (ie, 200-400/4 DO).

A lttle too wide. I use a 28/2.8. Small and cheap and with an effective focal length of 44mm. A 35 would give you 56mm. If you need a fast normal lens they are available in both focal lengths.

Humm, will this kind of survey ever ends?

Currently:

Tokina AT-X 17 AF PRO 17mm f/3.5

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM (used lens bought from B&H, std bird shooter)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM (Std lens)
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM
Canon 77mm 500D close-up lens
Canon Extender EF 2x II
Sigma 24mm f/1.8 EX Aspherical DG Macro (Use this more than the Tokina 17mm)

Future:

May get that Arca Swiss ballhead
or may be a C90 spotting scope.

Jan,
Could I have more info of 500 Apo Tessar T*?
Would it fit for D30? and what is it for?
Thanks!

Kinko AF tubes set

IMO...all the gaps are filled for my use.

I mainly use the 24/1.4L indoors. With a little bracing it can be used
at 1/15 f/1.4 (ISO 100) -- that's what, EV5 or 6. At ISO 400 it's
usable in candle light... I'm not sure it's really a replacement for a
good zoom like the 28-70L though since the zoom offers better
control over perspective.

Hmm, makes sense. Good point. I was just thinking of going with strictly "L" lenses as I prefer available light shooting (can't stand flash). I can see how it would be a bit wide, though - at an effective focal length of 38mm.

Another thing I just thought of - even though the D30 only uses the central part of the lens vs. the entire frame, wouldn't barrel distortion give it away as a wide angle lens, vs. a real "standard lens" also? Certainly more pronounced, at least I would think...
