Does anyone have/use or know where to get ICC profiles for the above minilab. It would be nice to calibrate images against it before sending to print.

SOmeone was kind enough to e-mail me a profile [BETA version] which i lost when my pc crashed ! I did not get a chance to get try it... you may want to do another search, you'll find the persons name and maybe you can e-mail him to send the same BETA version to you :)

hope it helps. I know that if you stick to sRGB you'll be fine though.

Hi dizzynoodle - that was me, I still got it here. Not sure if I would put it up in public, since Fuji has dropped it from their site, and it was clearly marked as a beta-version. It is described as a "Fuji Frontier LP-1500 (betaII)" icm profile, and I don't know if this is useable on the Frontier 350/370. The Fuji minilab software I've seen has no understanding of icm-profiles at all. You must convert your images to sRGB and save in the sRGB format. Their software ignores any embedded profiles and just assumes sRGB. The only place you possibly could have any use of it is if you could get a Frontier Printer driver and do the printing directly from i.e. PhotoShop. I don't think many labs would take the hazzle to produce your images that way...

Hey Magne,

I thought it was you ! Hope all is cool... i did not end up trying it, but i agree with you on the sRGB... I guess it's the best way on those machines :)

I'd downloaded the ICC profile from Fuji's site several months ago; I put it on my site for those wishing to try it: http://www.mcconcept.com/images/FujiFrontier (BetaII).icm

However, as others have pointed out, converting to sRGB produces excellent results so I don't know how useful this profile would be. Since Fuji has removed it from their site, makes one wonder. If someone does try this, let us know the results.

I wrote an article for our state's professional photographers' newsletter about this printer and had a chance to speak some Fuji reps about the Frontier printer. They all stated that the Fuji does read embedded profiles and is set up to handle files in Adobe 1998 and ColorMatch as well as sRGB. If the file is not embedded with a profile, the printer assumes that it is sRGB. --Take Care,Tom Cheswick http://www.cheswickphoto.com

Yes - I know Fuji states so, but real life experience with two labs here shows that any embedded Adobe 1998 profiles saved with PS 5.5 or PS 6 was totally ignored. It could be the SW-version or some settings/parameters - but after 2 hours playing with the SW we were totally unable to find it anywhere... So I'll stick with the convert to sRGB approach.

Many thanks!!! I'm going to do some comparison prints with and without it and will report my results.

My guess is that there is a configuration setting buried somewhere that turns this on and off. It is probably not something the technicians know about and indeed, they may not even have access to it. Just a guess, but I concur that from my experiments the one I'm using seems to ignore the embedded profile. My embedded Adobe 1998 images came out with a grey/green cast to them.
