Nice pictures, thanks for posting. I'm surprised at the apparent lack of interest/ reaction to these. They look very nice.

Even though it appears this is becoming more and more of a GR-D dominated forum, it seems that the GX8 would be a very good compliment to that camera, and there would be more interest.

Thank you for your comments.

For the price, the GX8 is a bargin albeit it does not have the cache of the LX1/Digilux 2 but it does have equal to better than IQ, and a more useable 400/800 ISO. It seems well made, came with a lens adapter, lens hood, battery and charger. It has a small LCD by today's standards but a very useable optical finder, no it does not support 16:9 wide format, but so what. It does have an intuitive menu system and the text scene mode can be LOMO on steriods.

Cheers. Terry.

The GX8 like the GRD does both AA and Lithium. Indeed the GX8 like GRD came with both in the box. I like the fact the GX8 has a hotshoe you can use with an external finder... popflash.com also provide a lens adapter and hood. All such a good deal.

Cheers. Terry.

I bought GX8 few weeks ago but I still think I had to get GRD ;) Simply, I need something even smaller. And because I'm used to shot with mobile phone with 2Mpix and no optical zoom, I think I can live with GRD prime lens. Just let me know if you are still interested. I can provide you with GX8, external flash (sunpak 1600) and lens tube with lens hood (52mm thread).

I actually almost bought one of these instead of the GR-D and would
have except that the salesman indicated to me that it only took AA
batteries. There's a lithum instead isn't there?

How's the viewfinder btw? How does it compare to the GV-1?

If anyone wants to "upgrade" from the GX8 to a GRD, I'd probably
consider it!

Does this take the same battery as the GR? I'm trying to simplify my life, want an inexpensive zoom camera for some events I shoot, and want a camera that uses a battery I use in some other camera. Unfortunately, Canon was using the same battery in digicams and SLRs, but no longer offers the option with new digicams, probably because the battery is too big. If Ricoh does this with the GX8, I'm there.

GX8 is a cool DC. It lacks of current things (Anti shark or O.I.S., large LCD etc) to attract buyer, but this lack of advance feature make you 'think' with the DC and use its best or strength to make a short.

I had it for 1yr+ and I grew with it. check out ctlai.blogspot.com

I brought it because of its Hotshoe that no other DC offer at that time and at that price.

the external flash really help for night

and noise ninja 2 works, it clear out alot of noise issue that associated with high ISO. now I am not afarid to use ISO 400+ for a shoot.
