I have PS 5.0 .. I think, the one that came with my e10..
Has any one tried upgrading to PS6...

I thought I read some where that you needed to have PS 5.5 in order to upgrade to PS 6...
I can't see spending $600 for a full verson...

Thanks, Angie

You definitely don't have to have 5.5 to upgrade. I upgraded from 3.0. It's 199$ I think. Check out http://www.adobe.com for the actual price.

Check out PS Elements at £70 (probably $70 in the US), unless you are a pro photographer or graphic designer it has absolutely everything you need from PS 6 and has been made so much easier to use.

Unless I'm mistaken, the software that came with our E's is PS 5.0 L.E.
This is not the same as PS 5.0.
I tried to upgrade to to PS 6.0 and could not upgrade from L.E.
You had to buy the PS full package at one time to do the upgrades.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't see the $600 spent in that direction either.

Yes, you are correct. It requires PS 5.5 to to apply the PS 6.0 Upgrade. Otherwise, it requires the complete package.

PS Elements came with my Epson 1280, along with an upgrade certificate for PS6, offered at $250. Should I jump at this opportunity, or does Elements have all the capabilities I will want (I know it doesn't support Curves)? I'm a particular type of photographer, who is interested in high quality imaging.--Alan Boehmer, Los Osos, California

Alan,

If you can upgrade from Photoshop Elements to Photoshop 6.0 for $250 it's a super deal being that the all up version of Photoshop retails for about $600. If you plan on doing a lot of image manipulation and editing the all up version of Photoshop is worth the extra money.

If you haven't already done so, recommend you register your Adobe image editing software that came with the camera. Adobe occasionally offers deep discounts on the full Photoshop package to registered owners of more limited packages.

You do not need version 5.5, but you absolutely have to have a full version in order to upgrade. When you install the upgrade ... the install will ask you for the previous disk to verify that you actually have a full up version. If you can somehow produce anything that states you are a student, there are very deep discounts on academic software. A good source is ... http://www.campustech.com ... awesome discounts on a lot of very expensive software. In any case ... if you are offered the opportunity to acquire the full version of Photoshop via some discount ... take it. You will get better at what you are doing and someday you will want Photoshop. Elements from what I hear is pretty good ... but nothing ... I mean NOTHING ... beats the full version of Photoshop. Cheers ... :-)
