Zeiss 21mm or 18mm

It was at ISO 100 and f8, but I don't recall the shutter speed.

In full manual mode and bright sunlight for landscapes I usually bias -1/3 or -2/3 stop but I didn't record that here. I also usually bracket quite a bit, then choose the best in post. Bits and bytes are cheap! My wife often asks why I take so many shots of the same thing. Alas, I just tell her I'm "making sure". ;-)

The 16X20 print of this looks so much better than the reduced web size. The Zeiss 21mm Distagon is a great lens, but way overpriced.

The people who spent Sooooooooooooooooo much for that zeiss are comparing it to an f4 zoom.

Ummmmmm lets see......

Prime against low quality f4 zoom. DOH!

Heres a canon prime pic........

Compare this to your zeiss prime emmmmkkkkkkkkkk

Taken with 1Ds, I tried the 18/4 but it wasn't in the same league, though it had very low distortion.

100% corner crop for the pixelpeepers :)

Now I use a Leica 19/2.8 Elmarit, but the Zeiss is wonderful and it doesn't need modification on the 5D.

Ciao :)

Zeiss 21f2.8 and 28f2.8 (sorry now 18f4) real world + test pics uncroped at

The CZ 21 and CZ 28 are absolutely great, the 15f3.5 and 18f4 are good but not super sharp in the edges (on ff 5D or 1ds).

If I may ask, why did you switch from the Contax 21mm to the Leica 19mm? Are you using it on a 5D? How did you deal with the shroud hitting the mirror issue? Thanks, Howard
