Can anyone tell me how to get the wacom pentools to work with my intuous 4x5 tablet and either Photoshop 6 or Painter Classic. Placed them in the appropriate plugins folders and they appear as filters, but do not seem to work. Any clues?

I got the intuous airbrush and it does not seem to work any differently than the pen tool. Any clues? Is this wasted money or what? thanks

Pentools is the free plug-in that was on the CD, right? Forget it, imo, it isn't worth having around.

The "Pen tool" in Photoshop is the beziér curve tool, it looks like a fountain pen. You think that the airbrush works like the pen tool? I don't follow you...

I think you may mean that the Wacom Pen uses the Photoshop airbrush. If you can't find the difference between the Wacom pen and your mouse, then something's wrong... somewhere.

What kind of work have you been doing with the tablet?

I guess it's only wasted money if you don't learn how to use it. For me, it's invaluable.

I personally haven't gotten them to work in Painter Classic yet. However, since I got mine from Santa, my priority has been playing with and learning Painter first.

As far as PS, I've played with the Pen Tools filters, and I found them rather forward. They should open a new window where you can edit the picture with that particular tool, being able to erase what you do at any point without altering the actual picture.

I remember seeing a table on a webpage ( http://www.wacom.com/productsupport/tesoftware.cfm ) that gives a list of programs Wacom products were compatible with. Apparently, Photoshop can only use the airbrush like a pen, unless you use the Pen Tools plug-ins. Then and only then, I imagine, can you use the special airbrush capabilities.

I hope this helps.

Thanks - As a Walcom Graphire 2 user, I found the site very interesting.

How did you get pentools to even work? I cannot even get pentools to work at all. Period. And apparently no one has gotten these things to work. It says in the manual to put tablet in absolute mode and there is no absolute mode to be found. Apparently, wacom has provided unworkable filters in an attempt to claim additional software with the program. I emailed wacom and they are not even able to help me to get pentools working. This is unethical and inappropriate. The airbrush goes back to the store tommorrow. thanks
