I beginning with one nocturnal scene of the Castle of Sarteano (Italy, Tuscany, Siena).
Sarteano (just a few miles from Chianciano) is famous for its "Giostra of the Saracino", medieval competition between knights who represent the quarters of the city, like in the famous "Palio of Siena".

... haven't had the good fortune of visiting Europe since then, so here're some old pics
The first is Neuschwanstein. I don't know if the 2nd image shot in Bern, Switzerland, qualifies as a castle (probably was a castle, but now converted to some form of Government building?)

A really small one (Ireland)
Dunluce Castle (Northern Ireand)
Kilkenny Castle
Edinburgh Castle, 2004 Tattoo
All are earlier non-Nikon DLSR pictures, but I like'em.
Another Edinburgh Castle pic from a different perspective. Taken during 2004 (Minolta Dimage Z1).
Urquhart Castle with Loch Ness in the background taken during 2004 (Minolta Dimage Z1).
Mt St Michel in Normandy, France taken this year (Canon S2-IS).

Many places are called"The Land of Castles" but you can't go very far in Wales without bumping into one.

This thread made me go and take a picture of Edinburgh castle on the way home today
Unfortunately I came about 10 minutes too late for the nice sunset.
Please expand for the torches.
Nikon D50 50mm f1.4, 1/90, F4.8, ISO 200 (and a bit of pp...)
Seems there's quite a few people from Edinburgh on this forum... Maybe it'd be fun to have a meetup some time?
Not one of my best photos, but when you are on a tour you have to make do with the light you have. Probably one reason why I am not on a tour much. But what an awesome castle!!
