Being the B&H lost power (their web site is still down), their unsold gear is sitting in un-airconditioned rooms somewhere. At what temp point will things like DSLR bodies get cooked? Will we be seeing a lot more people complaining about faulty gear in the next few months?

I wonder how their film storage is doing.

If you are expecting B&H to have a "heat sale" , give it up!

A few weeks back I was out on a boat on the Lake. The temp was 117 on the water, so I just pulled out my microdrive, removed my lens and chucked my D2X in the lake. Everyone knows when you get over 75F all electronics are instantly ruined.

Really now... Think about it.... All the electronics I've bought in the last 20 years have a OPERATING temperature range.. This is the minimum to maximum temperatures you should actually use the device in, the storage temps are usually much higher. The operating range of the D2X according to the manual is 0-40C, or 32-104F.

I have had no problems using it well above 110 more than a couple times in California and Arizona.

Yeah, it got way too hot for the Canon L glass. You know that stuff can't handle the heat. The white plastic won't save it now! :^)

I think its to late to stop it. Its got a life of its own now. Just sit back and see how big it grows :-D
