I use Photoshop 7.0 and it of course does not support CR2 files for the Canon 20d. Not certain but seems I have read that there may have been a plug-in for 7.0 that provided support, however; I hope to upgrade to a later version so I am not interested in the plugin if one exists.

What is the first version of Photoshop that included support for 20d CR2 files ? Was it CS or the later CS2 version.

As far as I remember, 2.4 had 20D support, so I guess it was CS that was the first support for the camera.

Photoshop CS indeed supports 20D RAW, when you download the updated Adobe Camera Raw plug-in.

Photoshop CS does not, nor will it, support 30D RAW. Nor should it: the 30D came out after the release of Photoshop CS2. There may be a third-party hack to provides 30D RAW support for Photoshop CS, but I am not aware of one.

When I ask which Canon lenses are best,
people tell me to 'go to L.'

As I understand it, all you need is the updated Camera Raw plugin that you can download from Adobe in order to open Canon Raw files in PhotoshopCS. It doesn't really matter when the 30d was relesed. Adobe just updates Camera Raw so that it will load the new camera files.

Really not necessary. Just download a free copy of "Raw Shooters Essential"

and use it to process your raw files. It does a great job and you can then save in a form that you can further edit in Photo Shop 7 or CS or whatever.

Unfortunately the newest Camera Raw Plugin isn't compatible with CS, only CS2 or PSE3/4.

Would it be possible to use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert the 30D CR2 files to DNG format, then open that in CS?

I believe Bibble have a plugin for PS 7. I don't know whether it supports the 20D, but I guess it does.

I believe ACR 2.3 had unofficial support for 20D, but ACR 2.4 was the first with official support. ACR 2.4 is the one to use with CS anyway, so that should work for you.

(And in reply to another post here - yes, the DNG route works for the 30D, using the latest ACR - 3.4).

Yes, Bibble Pro's photoshop plugin works with PS 7.0, CS and CS2
and supports all the latest cameras including the 30D and 5D.

Eric, I would assume the referenced photoshop plugin is a part of the complete Bibble Pro package and not available only as a plugin -- somewhat like the Neat Image software and it's associated Photoshop plugin.
Is this correct ?

Bibble Pro includes the Photoshop plugin, they are part of the same
package and not available seperatly.

You can download a fully functional 14 day trial version from teh
webstie and see if it meets your needs.

Thanks Eric for your reply.
When I get more time to experiment, I will give it a "test drive"....

Thanks. I'll say that next time I mention Bibble for Photoshop.
