I've seen reference to the price matching policy of Sears:

http://www.sears.com/data/advertisements/0604_mores_sears_exclu_yel.html

but the version linked from their homepage limits 'established online merchant' to a few places like amazon.com, bestbuy.com, etc, none of whom currently offer lower prices on the 707 than Sears. See:

http://www.sears.com/sr/framework/home.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1187263768.1009411982@@@@&BV_EngineID=diadcclgihjfebggcmgclchl.0&targetPage=%2fmisc%2fsears%2fcustserv%2fcustserv_pricing_policy.jsp&vertical=SEARS

Has anyone gotten them to honor another web merchant's price recently?

About 2 weeks ago, I walked in to my local Sears in a small town in Southwest Washington and had a printout of the A&M Photoworld Ad in my hand. I handed it to the salesman and asked if he had that camera. He checked and said he could get it. He asked if I wanted it if he could price match the ad. I said yes. He checked with his manager and then called A&M Photoworld to see what shipping would cost and if they had it in stock. He said yes. I handed him my Sears card. I also purchased the 2 year Product Protection Plan. I cant remember the exact numbers but it was $769 for the camera and $112 for the PPP and some tax. All in all I walked out with a total bill less than the $999 for the camera and I got the PPP. 4 days later the camera came in and I have taken 600 pics since. Hope that helps.

Sears price-match very dependent on location and local policy. Last October I purchased my 707 down the road from my home in NCarolina. They price-matched "Dell 20% off" Internet adv for $800, and then subtracted another %10 for in-store promotion. No hassle from them. Bottem line --$720 plus tax! Received camera 2 weeks later as promissed, complete with BFS!

Timing is everything ---Good luck!

I did a price match at Sears Upstate NY 12/15/00 with the A&M website but the cameras (I bought 2, 1, I sold on ebay) didn't have BFS as the serials #'s are new. Sears matched $769.00 - 10% =$693.00 &tax. Some Sears will price match, some will only do 20% and some will not price match at all, it all depends on the manager and if the store is an A, B, or C store. It's too bad that they carry only a few of the higher priced cameras as I would have bought a coolpix 5000 and a canon g2 or d30 as well.

I'm looking to buy a f707, and I called A&M, they were jerks to me. Anyways, they don't have the US version of the camera, and I don't believe I live anywhere near a Sears electronics, but I live near one with furniture (lol) within 50 miles. How does it work online? And if they did the price match with A&M, does that mean I'm gonna get some stupid euroversion of it? Or do I get the US version? Thanks!

Just received a price match from a Sears near Seattle for a 10/17 Dell quote of $799 (Dell cancelled my order w/out notice) and I pick up my camera this Monday. I originally called the manager back in November and asked him about the price match during a Thanksgiving 10% off sale. He said he could give me the price match or the 10% off but not both. Finally went in before Christmas and he remembered talking to me (!) and said he'd still honor the price match. Is that customer service or what?

Consequently, I happened to be at a different Sears earlier in the week and asked the electronics mgr the same and he wouldn't do it - said it had to be "recent" and from a credible e-tailer (I guess Dell isn't "credible"). When I asked him how long a "recent" ad was he said "within a couple of days" (this is false btw - their own policy states within 30 days).

You may have to try a couple of stores but I've heard some very positive things about buying from Sears - just depends on the manager/store you get.

Best of luck,

chrys

If sears has a 10% off day within 30 days of your purchase just call the store and ask for a price adjustment, they will do it over the phone.

Thanks to those who replied. I took a printout of Zero Delivery's page in this morning and got a match with no problem at all ($819 + $10 shipping). That's just about the cheapest price on pricegrabber right now, and Zero D. also says its products are new with a US warranty. That probably helped.

please post the City State of Sears ...I am finding it difficult in NJ .
thanks..

Went to Sears today (Atlanta area). Took today's printed quote from zerodelivery.com. The sales guy matched the price ($819 + $10 shipping) with no problem, no hassles.

Also, Don't forget. If you have an American Express Blue Card, A.E. will price match. They will send you the diference between what you paid and the lowest advertised price up to $250.

I didn't reply in time to be of any use to you, but I'm glad you found a store with someone who was willing to match it for you. Hopefully they had one in stock for you and didn't have to order it, and the matched price beats Gateway (at least the price on Gateway's web site, where they are out of stock, too).

Also, can purchase at Ritz or Wolf with Blue or Gold AX, no tax, no shipping chg then go to AM Photoworld and fillout form then print to send to AX for refund. AM Photoworld is $755. Ritz/Wolf is $999....AX refunds difference up to $250. If purchasing from Sears tax is charged and shipping. Just a way around those two obsticals...
