Battery Grip Question

Same here. I mostly use the grip when I am shooting sports. A lot of times I need to stick the camera in a backpack and it's easier to fit everything I need without using the grip.

That said, I do like using the grip so I think it was a worthwhile purchase (got the Opteka version so wasn't that much money).

Interesting , you should say that.

My 100-400 IS is on the camera all the time and battery charge has never been an issue. I do , however carry 3 fully charged batteries with me all the time. Very rarely do I need a second battery. I honestly felt buying a battery grip was a good idea, but I have since changed my mind.

After I received my bg-e1 for the 300D, it has not come off. It really changed my shooting style. Now my first instinct is to shoot portrait, whereas before the grip my first instinct was to shoot landscape.
 
those of you who use the grip, do you move the second strap mounting point to the bottom of the grip? I tried that but wasn't really sure if I liked the way it made the camera dangle lens down.
 
I never take mine off. Had it on now for over a year. Cant imagine why you would want to take it off. But, to answer your question............Never take it off. No need too!

i use the original mount, but I got a quick release strap- that helps somewhat although the few inches of strap left at each mount dangle around and get in the way when I use portrait mode.

But getting back to the question about removing the grip... just to further complicate everything, I added a hand strap. It makes removing the battery grip a real pain in the a--!

Anyone have a solution? There are times that I would like to remove the grip and the strap, put on the 50mm 1.8 and slip the camera in my pocket.

Had mine a good few months and havent even thought about taking it off.

The grip also allows the use of standard batteries, which could be a life saver one day!

Its really down to personal preference and shooting style, but IMO is a good purchase.

modified (Sewed on two straps with a clip) so that it'll fit my XT
with Sigma 17-70. Other than that, the grip's always on. Don't
forget to try out the Hakuba strap with it. When I first got the
strap before I got the grip I didnt like it at all. I have big
hands and it just didnt feel right. Once I tried it with the grip
tho, it's worlds better! Fits and works great!

Have you tried the Hakuba grip -without- the battery grip? As far as I'm concerned, this is the best feel.

Was wondering the same thing....since moving it to the bottom of the grip, the lens keeps pointing down...

But at the same time, I found that with the strap attached to the body only, the strap gets in the way when shooting in portrait orientation...

I just take the whole strap off now when shooting with the grip...
But I think I'll put it back to the body...

What "quick release" strap did you by if I may ask?
