Hey all,

Do I need to charge these batteries before using them the first time? (The Nimh's that come with the 2100)...also I already have Paint Shop Pro and my daughter has Photoshop Full Version on our computer. Do I need to install the Photodeluxe that came with the camera for any particular reason?

Charge the batteries first.
No need for Photodeluxe if you've got Photoshop,
though deluxe has a few handy pre-set "template" type things
for making greeting cards, etc. that you might find useful.
But for photo editing/retouching, there's nothing new there.

Lorraine, welcome to the UZI Club ...

Yes, you should throw them batterys on the charger and let them cook, then use till they are dead, and keep cycling them, they will hold more power after being drained a few times ...but at first, you'll need to top them off ...

I use Paint Shop Pro cause it was cheaper and now im use to it, it will work for all your image editing needs, but will only see the camera as another drive letter, so you can't download directly using the digital camera feature in PSP, the other's I've have but never used, 'cept photoshop, way tooooo much money for my blood ...

Congratulations on your Christmas present. I'm amazed that you're asking this question the day after Christmas though :-). When I got my camera, the batteries were partially charged. Although it's probably a good idea to fully charge them first, I could'nt wait and just popped them in and ran them dry playing with the camera. I don't see any negative effects from doing so, but I understand that you have to run them through a few charging cycles to get them up to full capacity anyway. Of course, you may have better self control than I.

Haha...

Self control doesn't have much to do with it. Having 3 kids and the family here for Christmas was more of a factor. I was busy making sure everybody elses toys (electronics) worked...

I got it out last night but was so tired I didn't want to take time to read anything. :o)

Hi, Lorraine, and thanks for helping me get my UZi!

I put my batteries in the camera to check them, and they had so little power they wouldn't even work.

You could try the same thing, but I'm sure you will have to charge them pretty soon.

Of course, the manual does say to charge them 2 or 3 times before using them (see my earlier post)....

It does make it fairly easy to correct red-eye. Otherwise, no. --21oo, B-3oo3o4oJuli

Ok then, how about selflessness; I guess that's why kids love their moms so much. Me being the dad, I let my wife make those sacrifices with our three and the relatives, while I sneak away and play with my toys :-). Unfair, I'll admit, but I do appreciate her keeping everyone happy as I'm sure you're family does also. Can't wait to see some pics from your new toy!

Hi Lorraine;

I think you got your answer but here you go;

I bought two additional sets of batteries with my UZI, i charged them in rotation with the oly charger and ran them thru three times....
Each time they sucked up a little more juice and then I started using them

I was surprised at how long each set lasts.....

i always analyze everything, sometimes your better off if you just DoIT, like Nike.....learn as you go has its advantages to be remembered longer

8-) Actually, it wasn't yesterday. It was back on December 5, when I asked in rec.photo.digital about the C-2040, and you (I think!) referred me to your thread "Gulp...ordered the 2100". That, along with some of the "fanatical" messages I read here, convinced me to switch to the UZi, which I ended up getting for Christmas!

Was that you? If not, it was another Lorraine--and I apologize.
