To me, it's either a Ricoh R4 with VGA video, or a Fuji F30 with a 28mm lens. I'm sure that both cameras are coming, it's just a matter of having some patience (and this is something I'm running out of...)

I have everything I need.
Sony R1 and H5
Don't get any better than that.

Could have bought a DSLR with a couple of lenses but decided on a cruise instead.

DSLR?
I ain't got no DSLR.
I don't need no DSLR.
I don't have to show you any stinking DSLR!
It's the picture stupid! The picture - not the toy

waiting for the new SD from Sigma... 15.3 MP with a 18-200mm ex 2.8 constant.

Soon! Oh Soon the light. Ours to shape for all time, ours the right. The sun will lead us, our reason to be here.

Still a bit undecided. I've been using Nikon SLRs for years and was going to get a D200 (viewfinder and support for legacy glass) but they're very expensive here. Photography is also becoming secondary to some of my other interests so I'll stick to my Dimage 7i and my wife's A610 for the time being. Later on, we'll see.

8.5 frames per second and any resolution between 8 MP and 10 MP is fine with me. OBTW, I don't want a print button. If there is an extra button I'd appreciate an MLU function assigned to it.

Nikon d300. Don't know what the specs will be, but I figure that is the model they will be on when it comes time to upgrade my d70, and next time, I'd like to move up the line in terms of AF and build quality.

Looks like you're in for a l-o-n-g wait...

I currently own an *ist DS which is fantastic at many things, except low-light autofocus. I'm hoping the successor to the *ist D will solve this problem.

Me too!

I expect the new K10D, or whatever it will be called, will be the camera that will make me move to a DSLR. Also looking forward to the new lenses 16-50 f2.8 and 50-135 f2.8 ...all I think will be shown at Photokina.

Cheers ....Mike.

I'm waiting for a high-quality fast prime point and shoot (f2.0 or even better, 1.0) that I can use instead of my intimidating, attention grabbing SLR.

The Ricoh GR Digital gives is a "high-quality fast prime point and shoot (f2.4)". You do lose half a stop from your target aperture, but you can just bump up the ISO a notch to compensate.

You could get a Pentax DSLR with a pancake lens if you want discreet candids...

The F30 with 28mm lens as well - they can even call it Finepix F28 - what do you say Fuji ???

How about something like the Fuji f30 for high ISO but smaller with IS? Even better with 28mm and f2.0 at the wide end? (Say effective 28mm-90mm) No more than 5 MP.

I can dream can't I? I mean, this is all based on existing technology. No ridiculous pie in the sky.

Give it SD cards and make sure it's smaller/flatter than the current F10 series and my search for a perfect pocket cam ends.
