Canon/Nikon's new dSLR pricing

.......and a caveat for TimmyB - don't count your chickens before
they hatch. Having assisted a visiting European purchasing
equipment here, I can say FACTUALLY that some firms do NOT accept
"foreign" credit cards. Make sure your source will BEFORE you
attempt purchase (getting a cash advance on such a card can be VERY
costly, otherwise).
I'll leave my chickens be until I get there then :)

"Whomever introduces the first serious EVIL camera will probably continue marketing OVF cameras along side just as there are still a few film cameras available."

They won't have any choice. Discontinuing OVF would mean certain death for Canon or Nikon. EVF is nowhere near being technologically good enough to replace OVF for most DSLR users.

I don't really see why. Canon and Nikon would have to introduce EVFs if the technology reaches the point where it can compete advantageously with OVFs and the demand is there.

I happened to look at your pbase pics in Bangledesh.

P.S. and no one tell me the 1DsII wil have an EVF!

You're supposed to pay it after the fact. Nobody does, as far as I
know (maybe businesses do?)

David Gay
how are you supposed to pay it afterwards? I'm from Europe, and are
going to LA in a month (for a month) and has thought about buying a
camera there. But I don't want to do anything illigal.
I doubt if there's be anything illegal about this. A lot of countries give visitors special concessions, like getting a rebate on local sales taxes when you leave the country, so I wouldn't worry about it. I'd be more concerned about the warranty situation if you're planning to buy an expensive camera. I suppose you could ship it back to the US for any work but that could wipe out the savings, and I've heard of people getting all sorts of grief from customs when the camera comes back again. Anyway, your decision, and I'd probably be tempted if I was going to the States too!

Where did you find the link to Rennie's Bangladesh photos? (I'm contemplating a return trip this winter. Looking for locations.)

It won't. Look for EVF on the 1Ds IV. ;o)
