How does Lyson Print Guard compare with Krylon UV? Are they both basically the same or is one better than the other? Are there other products that are better? My wife scrapbooks and I want to use the best available spray. We have moved to having scrapbook photos printed commercially but want to spray previous pictures printed on a Canon ink-jet printer. Please help, my life is in jeopardy if those previous pictures fade!!!

I have not tried Lyson's product yet, but I am presently using" Krylons protect it" it it so far seems to be doing a great job on Ilfords Classic papers.

water resistant, UV, and it dries really even. It comes in Gloss or matte finish, I did not see a semi gloss finish.

I have not used the products you mention, but have been using PremierArt print shield for two years. I have used it on prints from HP 970 and Epson R1800 printers using Ilford and Epson papers and I have been very impressed. Wilhelm Lab. has an done impressive testing on the product and those results can be seen on most sites selling the product. I buy mine from ITSupplies.com.

Did you try the gloss or matte spray or both? How did the finish compare to the raw Ilford classic Pearl? Did one of those keep the sheen about the same?

Thanks,

I have read on a couple of web sites that Lyson Print Guard and Premier Art Print Shield are basically the same formula. Both are highly rated and available around the world.

and done some fading testing on both. I found that both provide a modest increase in protection from light but not as much as using archival inks and paper. Both do provide good protection for prints from atmospheric contaminants and abuse to the print. I occasionally use the Krylon to protect a print from scratching and scuffing. The Krylon is less expensive.
