Just a few pics I took with my 5d and sigma 135-400 apo at fairford. I was very pleasantly surprised, though I hold no illusions that I still have a great deal to learn!!by they way this was my first attempt at airshow photography and my first go with this lens:

Hi Ashy - good set of pics there ...........

I missed RIAT but had been to Yeovilton and Fairford,both of which can be seen @ the URL's below:

@Yeovilton I was using a Tokina AT-X340 I (100-300mm f4 IF - would like to find the mark II - if anyone has this for sale please email me)

@Farnborough a Tamron SP AF 200-500mm f 5-6.3 Di LD (IF)

Both lenses produce reasonable images but I find I have two problems. The Tokina does not quite have the reach. The Tamron requires too many turns of the zoom ring to zoom in/out quickly. I tried a 2x TC on the Tokina but it would not use the centre focussing area. It may be that if I upgrade my Dynax 5D to a Sony Alpha 100 then the 100-300 maybe ok after cropping with the resolution being 10Mp instead of 6Mp??

Update to this - I got a Tamron 1.4x TC today and it seems fine. Can't wait to try at another show.

You may be able to help me - I too was looking at the Sigma lens you have - how many degrees do you have to turn the zoom ring to go from minimum zoom to max zoom?

Cheers - Mark
