FZx0, how many megapixels enough for you?

6 megapixels is enough, with the 1/1.8 sensor.

Perhaps, a step in the the direction of the Sony R1 with 1/1.7 or 2/3
size sensor.

I really like the camera body/lens size of the FZ30

I should be happy enough with six. JD

...there seems to be a 10MP 2/3" sensor on the Sony CCD roadmap which would have a similar pixel size to that Sony 7MP 1/1,8" sensor which is not to bad imho.

I assume that Panasonic will not use Sony CCDs, but they could show what is doable.

A buffered and reasonable fast RAW mode or customizable noise reduction in jpg mode would help, too. The most annoying thing for me is not noise but heavy noise reduction with the smearing of low contrast detail even at base ISO.

Are they going to listen to you and build an fz40 for the loyal, if so make sure they don't cripple it in other ways, eg no ttl on the little brother :)

I would buy a FZ30 or FZ50 variant immediately if it had better noise characteristics. For now, I'll stay with my FZ15. It's fine through ISO200. With advances in NR processing, I'd hope the above specs could give usable images up through ISO400 w/o post processing, up through 800-1200 with post processing.

6 would be fine -- (8 is more than enough).
Otherwise I really like the improved features of the FZ50.

Any chance that an FZ46, 47 or 48 is a prospect .... with 6, 7 or 8 MP but otherwise identical to the FZ50?
Thanks for starting this intersting poll!

I would have to say 5-6 million good ones. The problem I bet isn't the manufacturers, more the shops like Dixons where they push the megapixels...because they're better aren't they. The number of times I have been in a Dixons stores group store looking at the new line, and the poorly trained staff and BS'ing me about 'products' they want to shift. Sheesh...

Actually Phil..that would be an interesting exposé article...a review of stores and their selling techniques...it may amuse some of your global audience.
