I was sitting at my computer viewing the shots I had taken today and realized that I had not posted the promised shots from day two of our Flagstaff-Route 66 trip, so here they are:

Started day two in Williams Arizona, Stopped at the Williams - Grand Canyon train depot.

After a quick stop there we headed out to Route 66. Our first stop was Seligman.

Made a stop at Grand Canyon Caverns

The largest dry caverns in the U.S., so named because the air is drawn in from the Grand Canyon through 60 miles of limestone caves and crevasses.

The lighting was poor and I had no tripod, so most of my shots did not come out, I do have a picture of the 15' sloth that was found in the caverns.

Next stop Truxton.

Yes the town really is called Truxton

Crozier

Old school at Valentine

Hackberry, town that hosts the official “Old Route 66 Visitors Center” (It’s on the map that way.)

Found a few friends there too.

Last stop Kingman

Where I took a shot that is familiar to some of you! :D

Well we had put in a long day and after taking that last picture we filled the car with gas, got something cold to drink (soda’s) and headed home, 4 hours away.

Hope you enjoyed the trip.

Other photos and larger versions of the panos can be found here:

I don't suffer from insanity....I enjoy every minute of it.

Bonnie,

Here in Greece we have an expression (I don't know how much sense will do in English, but I will try to explain the meaning). Obviously you have some similar expression too.

The expression says: "Whichever stone I pick up, you will be under" meaning that someone is so well known in an area that even the stones know him since he is everywhere.

So this is the story with you. You have explored and photograph almost every inch of the state of Arizona.

I wanted to visit Arizona when I was doing my Electrical Engineering degree in USA (Boston, Massachusetts) but finally it didn't happen.
At least now I get an idea through your photos.

That old rusty truck and that old green-white (Plymouth probably) are my favorites.

Hey Bonnie. Great shooting. You always pic some nice subjects to
photograph for us, and yourself of course. It just looks so clean
and clear there all the time. Thanks for the great looks around.
Hi Brad, Thanks for the kind words. Most of the places we go to have a bit less traffic, you have tp want to travel This section of Route 66 to get to it, hence the cleaner skies.

Glad you enjoyed the tour!

That is a cool saying, being a native of Arizona, it is is nice to think that the rocks know who I am.

Well not quite, but getting there! :D

Sorry that you missed being able to come out here, but I am glad that I can share it with you thru my photos. I feel the same way about the photos you share with us of Greece.

The white/green car is a '57 Fairlane, I think Ford made it. It was a nice one we were driving past the lot it was in when my husband spotted it and did one of those quick pull-offs that surprise the passengers!

Thanks again for your kind comments.

Hi Ken, glad you liked them and that they brought back plesant vacation memories. It is rather sad to me that so little of the original Route 66 still exists. More disapearing all the time.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Keep up the good work Bonnie, I enjoy looking at your pictures.

Hi there Bonnie,

Once more you let us travel with you! As different Europe may be to you so are the images we see from you...Americans have a completely different style of living to Europeans and I enjoy your images a lot!

In Europe there are large differences too, I have several friends in England who are real English gentlemen...the Dutch always speak loud and the French well they have their savoir vivre (I hope Alastair agrees with me) we the Belgians are perhaps more modest but we love good food and drink...chocolate and beer are some of the best known Belgian specialities...

I think if you would travel in Europe you would enjoy yourselves a lot!

Thank you Gaber, for the kind words and the saying. It is getting close to that for sure. We have to think hard to find some place that we can go for a day or a weekend that we haven't seen yet.

Thanks again!

Thanks Glijn, I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. I enjoy bringing my state to other nations. I would love to someday visit Europe, but seriously unless I win some lottery it will never happen, don't have the type of jobs that earn enough money to afford that kind of trip.

But....the plus is that I get to tour it thru the images of all of you guys over there, just as I get to share it with you.

Thanks again!

Bonnie,

Great tour you gave. I fell like going back... but have to wait for
the temperature to go dawn.

Thanks ffor the shots,
John D.
Thanks John I'm glad you enjoyed the tour! :D I agree with you on waiting to make a trip out here till it cools down a bit. We are in the 110 + temp wise (LOWS in the 90's believe it or not) right now. Altho they say we are going to drop all the way down to the lowerr 90's next week with clouds and possible rain. I am hoping! lol

Thanks again for the kind words.

Bonnie - sorry to be late commenting on your excellent series, but it has given me a chance to read all the other comments first. Your travelogues are absolute winners and it is wonderful that others like Archangel are doing the same.

It does help one to understand other lands and their cultures better when we see these travelogues, particularly when they show us ordinary life rather than the great monuments. I know that my first visit to America was an eye-opener; it was a much nicer country than I had been led to believe by American films and TV!!

Please keep up the good work and I shall keep every finger crossed that you win big-time and come and visit Europe!

I know most movie and shows tend to show the "seedy" side of things....seems to be what sell unfortunatly. I am glad that I can be a photo ambassador for my country and my state!

Thanks, I will. I have more photos to edit. Those were taken the begining of July. Just been terribly behind. As to the lottery......my dad had a saying....You have to enter to win. I don't enter, the odds are too great. when you see hundreds of thousands of people enter and no one wins.....

Oh well.

Thanks again for the kind comments. Looking forward to your next set of shots.

As usual you are the master of the 5400. Enjoyed your trip very much. Thanks for letting us view them. I particularly liked #31 of the slideshow which showed the train against the background of the mountains.

Hi, Bonnie. Thanks for the travellogue. Some of those places really look interesting. Makes me want to get a root beer for some reason.

Hope that wasn't YOUR car impounded behind the fence! :D

Take care.

Thank you Shirley. That was a chance capture. We stopped for the old school and the train came by so snap a few quick ones. Some times those turn out better than the ones you plan! :D
