• I'm never too old to learn; just too old to remember much!

• and I'm not worried that I am well past my 'sell-by date'. What concerns me is my 'expire date'.

• BTW, I failed 'art' class in high school. What worries me is failing again upon reincarnation, -- as a paint brush.

well, if you close the doors and windows and put the a/c on, the outside heat wouldn't be so bad!

;) ;)

Ther lies the problem, no a/c in the house (30+ years old), as you might guess our normal summer temperatures from the trigger temperature. Through in a couple of French windows (glas doors) and you have yourself a nice greenhouse. Leave the shutters down over the day, as I am in the office with my own a/c anyway.

It's all relative I suppose. Here in my home town of Geelong, in southern Australia, we'd call that weather 'glorious'! And we're in one of the cooler regions of the continent.

Even then, a couple of days over 40 deg. each year is not unusual; we managed one day of about 44 deg. (111 deg. F) last January.

I am in Texas, which I am sure everyone knows that by now, we are miserable. I have not turned my air conditioner on until this last week. Yes, it was hot before that, in the high 90's, but now it is consistantly 103 degrees or more and the problem is the nights will not cool off either. Last night at 10:30 pm it was still 96 degrees.

I wasn't running my air conditioner because of the awful electric bills (that's another ugly topic!) but at night I could get the house cooled off enough. I read online somewhere, in Italy where it is hot and humid and very few people have air conditioning, to open your windows when it is cooler outside, but as soon as it starts heating up, close your windows and blinds. Your house will hold the cooler air inside. It worked too, up until this last week when we couldn't get any cool air ever! I broke down and turned my air on but it is set up on 88 degrees. People here are talking about $600-700 electric bills! I dread seeing my next one, but as soon as this heat wave is over, the air conditioning is going off!!!!! What makes it worse, we have had noooooo rain! I thought about doing photos of how dry we are, our grass is all brown, we have huge cracks in the yard cause it is so dry! If you don't have a water well here, and we don't, your yard is just out of luck! Unless of course you want a huge water bill too!

Learning and soaking it all in! Thanks for everyone's help!

Update. Today in Ukkel they measured 33C (91.4F), bit more in the east (well, only 60 miles away, Belgium is a small place) For tomorrow, 35C (95F) are predicted, with eastern Belgium closing in on the 40C (100+). Temp reading in the bedroom, 29.1C (84F). One advantage (always looking at the bright side of life), though the water pipes are underground, one can have a shower without switching on the boiler. :)

Corny pic. Or Fields of gold. Depends on my mood.

Yesterday in Ukkel (Uccle) 35ª (98F), in the 'Kempen' 60 miles to the east, 37.8ª (103F).

We had a fast moving light and sound show late in the evening, so conditions are better today.
