OK, I've had my SB-600 for about 10 months now and love it for indoor shots with the Stofen Omnibounce diffuser and outside for fill flash as needed but have only played around with using it as a wireless flash with my D70 on commander mode a few times...

Let's see your SB-600/800 wireless off camera shots. I'd love to see what others are using it for...

Here's one I took this weekend while camping. I had the D70 on tripod with the internal flash up set to slow sync and used aperture priority for an 8 second shutter speed at f8 with the SB-600 on the ground to the left of my wife...

I thought it came out kind of cool...

Here's a couple I took the night I got the flash testing out the commander mode. Bottle (found scuba diving in the Niagara river) and shell was on top of a glass top coffee table with the SB-600 underneith pointing up...

Let's see yours!

Held the flash off to the side. These are shots of yard art in Austin Tx.

This is my friends BMW Isetta from the fifties, he drove it as part of his wedding. Flash is in the car.

All of the climbing shots were taken with the flash on a Monopod with the flash above the climber and off to the side.

I wonder how many people end up buying a second flash?

I just got my sb-800 on friday and I'm already thinking I should have bought two sb-600's instead! I guess I can wait a while and get another sb-800... the CLS works so good in wireless mode that it's nuts. Since I just got the flash I don't have anything that great yet... but I already love this thing. It's amazing in wireless mode... the TTL is pretty much dead on every single time.

How cool would it be to have that shadow partially filled? Hmm... yeah... second flash coming eventually... that's for certain.

Haha, the baby heads are pretty weird... ;> )

I'll be heading to Austin again next month for the second time. Had a great time last year. My mother in law lives down there...

Cool car and the shots turned out great. Can't even tell a flash was used as in no reflections etc...

Did you have a diffuser on the flash by any chance?

Now these are cool! I like the idea of using a monopod to get the flash where you want it. Great idea...

Thanks for sharing,

I know, one more would open up so many more possibilities...

Agreed. Nikons flash stuff is like magic!

Haha, I was wondering the same thing if I had another flash on the other sider of her to eliminate the shadow...

Someday... ;> )

I read this thread and thought I guess I'll give this a try. SB-800 placed on the bottom left.
D70 + 18-70

my son resting after coming home from his volleyball practice last
fall. sb800 on wireless mode about 1 foot from his side for
dimensional lighting. i placed the flash on the coffee table and
used a small lumiquest softbox to mute the flash and show texture.

i used a wide angle (20mm) lens at f8 for good dof at about one
foot away for artistic (distorted) angle and placed the flash on
the floor (wireless) from the side for dramatic lighting.

I use an off camera flash but its not a Nikon. Its basically an old olympus FL-40, which is a great flash, that I have either set to auto or manual and mounted on a two dollar slave trigger. Anyone else use this method?

Any examples photos of how it works...

I'm assuming it would not be TTL?
