Sony Da New King!

Did you ever count the number of compliments vs complaints with Canon vs Sony on both forum. Also, did you count the number of defecting users from Sony to Canon. Before I bought my G-2, I was lucky to be given the chance to compare a number of different DC from Sony, Nikon & Canon. G-2 came out ahead in terms of sharpness, color, AWB handling, accuracy of flash exposure. Yes, G-2 has its own deficiency but they are minor issues as compared to other brands. -0- Ray

Im a G2 owner but Ive been lurking a bit in the STF.

The Sony forum has taken off with many messages and not so many threads because they took the decision to take the focus off BFS and other problems with some photo challenges and they have been really good Ive seen some great photos over there. They regularily seem to have long threads and hot threads with lots of discussion on ideas for photos for the challlenges. Im not that keen on sony memory stick and colour rendition but actually it matters little in admiring a good photo.

Also its a pity the amount of flaming and nasty comments Ive seen towards anyone who comes in here and bags the G2. Its starting to look like what we all accused the sony forum of being. So whats happening? The sony forum is becoming the canon forum and the canon forum the sony forum.

What we need is to shamelessly steal the STF idea and have some enthusiastic canonite run our own challenge. Any takers?

P.s. Somehow you posting forum stats has been equated to a flame bait attempt which I believe is an abusive, malicious, personal attack designed to start a flame war. Personally I thought that an abusive, malicious, personal attack would be more something like "everyone here in the canon forum smells and their mothers dress them funny". I mean if your going to be accused of writing nasty posts at least come up with something worthy.

If Canon would only make a new camera that is supposed to have lots of great features, then deliver it with multiple defects, recall it for a mysterious "fix" after thousands of complaints, get all the owners concerned over serial numbers, "blue flash syndrome", return policies, etc., then Canon could stay number 1. As is, there is simply less to talk about in this forum, because there are far fewer complaints or problems with Canon cameras.

That's funny how quick people form groups and start "protecting" them from "outsiders". Please think about these forums as digital photography enthusiasts group. where people may use different tools but they do the same thing enjoy their cameras and pictures they make.

It really is not important how many messages!!! If you look carefully, messages fall into just a couple of cateories (which are repeated in many forums). But my post & your responses may delay Sony (by at least an hour or two - LOL). Aloha, Bill

Value does not = # of messages. Messages cluster into a few predictable categores & many messages are repeats of earlier posts.

True! However, 12/17/01 Sony was 940 messages behind. Just now, they are within 200. Yikes! If I only could buy stock with this certainty. I could retire & move to Hawaii - Oops, already live in Hawaii, but not retired yet.

Good work. Between the 2 of us, we may delay Sony by at least 15 minutes.

'Course, as many have noted, this is no indication of quality. It also might be related to lots of posts regarding the new Sony F707 firmware problems and subsequent Sony fix.

Thank you AL, couldn't have said it better myself. I've had a G2 for a month or so now, but I haven't posted much here because mainly people are just problem-oriented.

Yeah, it's great to solve these gizmos' issues, and there are many of them, but surely we can do more than that. That's why I feel more motivated to post in the the Samples and Galleries forum.

I'll give the honour of starting a challenge to someone with more posts here than me, I have almost none. If that doesn't do the trick, I stick my neck out.
