Anyone bought a used 'like new' D30 from B&H via ebay ? They say they are refurbished - does this mean repaired / or maybe customer returns.

also they offer a 2 yer mack warrantee. anyone ever had to actually use a mack warrantee. what was the service like ?

I'm just guessing here, but they are probably customer returns. One auction just closed for $1800. That would be a good deal IF you could get the microdrive and battery. I don't think you do. Since you can buy a new one with the microdrive promotion for $2075 I don't think this is such a great deal but it is tempting.

Thats the thought process i am going through also. i was planning on selling the mirpdrive and battery as i already have both but the microdrive prices seem to be falling very quicky. would be lucky to get $250 for both. This would make the net price for a new D30 boby about $1800 - as you say not much above the used b&h price

Where did you see the $2075 price ?. best authorized dealer i have found is $2137 from buydig.com.

Unfortunately they are a web cover for beach camera and they do not have the greatest customer service reputation

I bought a Demo D-30 from B&H for $1600.00 a while back.

I had to return it because it kept getting stuck when scrolloing through the menu. It took great pics but I wasn't happy with it so I returned it & got a new one with the rebate.

Additionally, I'd beware buying refurbished Canons from B&H. I bought 2 EOS-3 refurbished cameras that were in mint condition. One had a problem with the LCD, the other had a crimped shutter blades. Both problems should have been obvious if Canon had spent even 5 minutes examining the cameras. My conclusion is that there are reasons those cameras were returned to Canon and they have done little to QA them.

MPsuperstore has them for $2075. They were also offering $100 rebate from msn but not any longer. That does include us warranty, and the rebate. They will try to "upsize" your order with some accessories but if you decline they will ship the camera, unlike some of the stores that list if for $1500 but never have it in stock unless you buy some other overpriced stuff.

I just ordered one of these from them directly a few days ago, I should have it tomorrow. I paid $1649 before shipping , this includes the 2 year Mack warranty, I have been wanting this camera for a while and watching the prices, I have had luck in the past with B&H but never purchased any refurbished or used equipment, also ordered a new Canon 28-135 IS Lens, I paid for ground shipping and they upgraded it to 2 day, anybody on this forum have luck with a refurbished D30, thanks and I will let you know how my experience goes once I have the camera, I have to say I wanted to post one of the threads like everyone else FINALLY ORDERED MY D30 because I was so excited and wanted to share it, but thought that everyone is probably sick of hearing that.

Some scattered thoughts:

I just bought one of these refurb units. I am certain that it will be a bit of a gamble. Some will be great, others dogs. It is certainly worth taking a chance on it. B&H is VERY good about returns and with the 2 MACK year warranty, this provides some peace of mind. I figure that the potential gains outweigh the potential costs.

For $1699 (what I paid including shipping), if it works well, I would have saved a chunk of cash. Considering that I do not need another microdrive and battery (have both already), buying a new USA warranty D30 doesn't make much sense. Fact is, even if this refurb is a bad unit, I will return it and buy a grey market body from DeltaInternational for under 2000 USD.

As to buying a new US warrateed body and selling the microdrive and batter; I don't think that selling a microdrive and battery on EBAY will yield me $250 (which is what I would have to net in order to have made a US warranty model worth buying).

Anyone who has been buying equipment for the last 10 years knows that MP Superstore (aka Marine Park) is a dangerous game to play. Please look at Photo.net to see the bad experiences too many have had regarding this retailer.
