Fuji S6500fd - The end of FZ30's reign?

Hi Archangel,

No IS and no fixed aperture (or with very very little lost of lens speed) is really a turn-off for Panasonic FZ owners.

Under not so worst lighting condition, the Fuji iso1600 is still usable, print size at most 5 x 7.
I saw the pictures and like them too. All of them look nice at that
size but if in bigger size noise would be visible in some of them.
For sure, there will be visible noise when some of those files are printed in large sizes. It may take another 2 to 3 years for a CCD manufacturer to develope a REAL super CCD :-).

I also spent a lot of time in the Fuji forum, gethering information of F series cameras before making my purchase. There is no taboo there, one can talk freely , they did not hate me or bashed me for owning Panasonic DCs only or mentioned the word OIS:-). Again there are also some aggressive and not so nice people, just like other forums, but one can quickly identify those people by viewing the messages they posted and stay away from them, there are many nice people, I made some friends there before owning my F30. You are also a nice person, I am sure you can make some friends there too. Plus Fuji Forum is also a very international forum, one can see many pictures taken in different parts of the world.

BR,

Danny

Hi Erik37
You have lucky friends/family members :-)
They also treated me nice, I am lucky to have them as friends and relatives. I am not a rich person, I used my money carefully, but I do enjoy seeing people enjoying the joy of photography.

Panasonic and Fuji should pay me commission for promoting their products, In many occasions friends brought Panasonic and Fuji DCs after seeing mine or talked to me about these wonderful cameras.
The latter category for some odd reason seems to mainly consist of
people who never owned IS lenses. :-)
That is the reason why I wish people study other technology first before ignoring other or even worst look down on other people photographic gears. Even when I got the best DC in the world, I would not laugh or disperse other cameras. Why bother?

You have elementary Chinese level, just learn another 1500+ characters, you can read Chinese newspaper:-).
'man + mouth'
on the red arrow, does it mean entry? 'Three mouths', restaurant??)
Close enough, it is a 'man' character, if the man's head is facing the right hand side, but it is facing the left hand side, then it is the word 'enter'. Good guess, it is a 'mouth' character, it also means 'port' or 'opening'. Together the 2 words, mean 'Entrance'. It is an entrance to an hourly pay lovers hotel, unique in HK.
We have to trust Fuji on that one since there's no way for us to
separate sensor performance from in-camera NR/processing.
It is a power user usage experience, he was so good that Fuji HK asked him to test the F30 for them. He got extremely high score in photo.net contest with an auto only F10. I knew him in person and trusted him, after the test, he had to return the F30 to Fuji HK and he brought the F30 with his own money. Yes, no scientific test data yet, could be in-camera NR or Super CCD VI.

Ah, no need to feel sorry, it was exactly what I mean, F30 and FZ7 are not expensive stuff, about the costs of 80 or 100 fast food set lunches here (may be less # of set lunches ) in Europe. I have no interest defending my hamburgar and chicken legs :-), if any one hates me for eating food they don't eat, it is his problems, not mine.
If I
lost the FZ5 today, I would have a hard choice between the two,
probably going for the one I could find at the lowest price.
Or buy a TZ1 AND F30:-)) for a change. Provided you also lost your pile of accessories too. I choose FZ5, because I got half pile of FZ1 accessories (batteries, Olympus wide angle adapter WCON 7, some 55mm filters) I can use on a FZ5.

I wish my next camera has raw output option.
For health reasons such a trip is out of the question currently but if
things change I will keep your offer in mind.
Come in Winter time, may be still hot to you, but bearable:-)

I am going to Melbourne this summer for vacation, it is cold now. I hope not too cold. It is now 36 degree C here in HK and humid too.

Happy summer holidays.

Danny

Oh, we have them in Brazil too. And they are called "Motels" there. They actually have the same design as Motels in North America...but with a somewhat different purpose ;-).

So beware, North Americans travelling in Brazil and looking for a place to stay. Don't sign in into a Motel...:-D

Hi Thiago,

That kind of 'hotel' is for walk in, no car customers.

Oh yes, we have that kind of 'motel' too. The motel people will cover customer's car license plate. Privacy issue.

Sex and the city. I guess.

The Chinese neon sign on the left is 'Fu Kee Congee Resturant', middle is a Saloon, right is 'Entrance to Spanish Hotel'.

Have fun taking pictures. I use my camera to take pictures of beautiful things and some times not so beautifuln things around us. And I record our lives with the way we treat people around us.

LOL! :-)

Ah! I'll remember that, thx.

Oh, how intriguing...
It is a power user usage experience,
Seems to be an interesting guy to know.
Yes, no scientific test
data yet, could be in-camera NR or Super CCD VI.
My (limited) understanding of manufacturing economics is that R&D
and setting the steppers up for making a chip is very complicated
and expensive, so you want as large a run as possible of the sensor.
(Panasonic use their 6MP in the FX9, FX01, TZ1, FZ7, LZ5 which
helps keep the price down on these cameras. The lower number of
LX1 sensors probably contribute to its higher price, making it
reasonable to go for higher build quality there as well.)

In comparison, tweaking the code for the processing is in principle
cheap. Hence I inferred it would be more likely to be the
same sensor but different processing.
F30 and FZ7
are not expensive stuff, about the costs of 80 or 100 fast food set
lunches here (may be less # of set lunches ) in Europe.
Around 70-80 FF lunches here, not because cameras are cheap but
because food too is expensive. ;-/
I have no
interest defending my hamburgar and chicken legs :-), if any one
hates me for eating food they don't eat, it is his problems, not
mine.
I have no problems with that, I've eaten lots of fast food myself.
Or buy a TZ1 AND F30:-)) for a change.
Since I often shoot at the tele end I wouldn't want to go down to 350mm
and also when I crop for farther reach, noise, artefacts and softness get
exaggerated so I want as good lens/sensor/processing as possible. Maybe
a TZ2 with raw where I could do my own NR would do the trick, the size
is very attractive.

As for high iso, I don't do much low light photography currently, and
not when out walking, so I really don't need a compact for that. I
could better go all the way for a DSLR. Lots to consider before such a
purchase and EVIL bodies might be around the corner so I haven't
gone for it yet.

Hi danny,

I'm sure that there are nice people in the FUji forum too. I have no reason to believe the opposite, even though I never visited the Fuji forum. It is enough for me to count on your words about the Fuji forum.

To tell you the truth the only forum I don't like is the Canon forum. 2-3 times I visited the Canon forum and got attacked and accused of trolling. There are some exceptions of course, there have been some really photography fans and not brand addicts but the majority of the people in the Canon forum think they own the best cameras because some review said so.

I'm interesting in any camera, no matter from which manufacturer comes from and I never pay attention to reviews' reccommendations. I read the reviews to get a general idea about the camera but I always judge my own.

When I get some more available time, I will visit the Fuji forum, but now it is summer, very hot here in Greece as usual (heatwaves and so forth) and weekends running away to my country house near the sea, where I go with my speedboat for fishing and swimming, scuba diving sometimes and some island exploration.

Hi Archangel,

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience in that forum. Let's not let that bad experience bother you.

One horrible thing happened in my childhood, which helped me to deal with these people, may be useful to you too. When I was about 10, my little brother and sisters came to me, telling me that, a new girl on the upper floor who would not let them play on the 11th floor playground. So I took my sisters and brother to the 11th floor and wanted to reasoning with that girl and tried to see how tough she was. When I was there, she scolded us and asked us to leave, before, I respond I saw something terrible, she was having a cool, some secretion coming out from her nose, instead of clearing it, she sniffed and used her tongue... It was terrible, we turned around and ran home. Laughing and terrified. I had entered her territory, she scared us away by doing things which hurted herself in the long run. Sorry to use this as an example. What they did was exactly the same as that little girl when they saw you entering into their territory. So don't get upset with these people, don't make ourselves dirty, messing around with them, it is just not worth it. That summer she played all by herself and a little relative, while we played with the kids in the whole building.

If they think they have the best cameras, let them think it that way, who cares! Actually, these people are doing their forum great disservice. If they can have the patience and the willingness of explaining why their cameras are good, than you may buy Canon too. The more people in a forum, the more the manufacturer will care about users feedback and provide better post sales supports. Some manufacturers do play attention to forums like these. Hugo (Hpicckcy), the person whom I mentioned to you about being selected by Fuji HK to test F30 and helped him to held his personal photo exhibition, they found him from the Fuji Forum, it can also happen to you too by Canon or Panasonic in Greece.

I sometimes got very upset when people who comes here to seek for information about Panasonic DCs but was corned and have a bad time, may be because of their difference in opinion in certain point. I normally post a subtle statement and asked them to leave before getting more hurt. My solution is to view beautiful pictures from different posters and try to forget those ugly statements.

Hugo's gallery : http://www.photo.net/photos/hpic

I may occasional get hurt, but I try not hurt to other to release my anger, when I see people get bashed by many posters, I will try very careful not to join in.
I'm interesting in any camera, no matter from which manufacturer
comes from and I never pay attention to reviews' reccommendations.
I read the reviews to get a general idea about the camera but I
always judge my own.
Me too, I myself will observe and ask for permission to test the pictures before making purchases
.

It is nice to be young and rich. Speedboat? how I envy you, my young friend :-))

I did know how to ride a small sail boat when I was young, single sail one.

I am going to Melbourne for vacation, I hope we all have a great summer. Post more of your colorful pictures.

Sincerely,

Danny

Hi Erik,

You are right about the high costs of FF and sensor economics.

I was just kidding about the TZ1 and F30 combo.

This afternoon, I had the chance to play with a SONY A100 with a 75 to 300mm (about 100 to 450mm, I was told by the sales man), very excited, heavy for a pre-senior citizen like me. but it felt good. The mirror was appeared smaller than my previous Minolta and Pentax SLRs.

I hope I can get some good pictures from my vacation.

Bye now.

Danny

you guys can decide whether it will post any threat to FZ30 or not.

I am not very fond of this camera (no IS and too big. If tele end up to 150mm f3.5, may be), but it should be appealing to some existing Fuji owners.

Beware the hosting site is in China, slow! iso800 pic, not much EXIF details.

Want to see more, there are totally 17 pictures. Again, beware very slow.
