I used 3/4" (approx) square Velcro tabs to prevent the dreaded Lens Cap Dangle.
The hard Velcro I put on the lens cap itself. It blends in nicely.
The soft Velcro I put on the bottom left side. It does cover part of the "DSC-F707" label and the BFS-fix blue dot. But this is a more out-of-the-way location than the bottom center.
I put another soft Velcro tab on the side of my tripod head. It is very much out of the way when the F707 is tripod-mounted.
You can see a picture of the Velcro in use:

WRIST STRAP
I didn't like the bulk of the Sony-supplied shoulder strap. I found a wrist strap from some device and use it, instead.
I mostly use the strap when my 4-year-old is taking pictures. His mom is a bit worried about him dropping the F707. But I trust him -- as long as he has the wrist strap on as well!
It is funny to see how he naturally assumes photographer positions, like the upside-down left hand cradle and the knee bend crouch. I don't do that, so I don't know where he got it from.
I will post some of his photos later.
