--Good Morning All!
(Normally, I hang out in the Canon 30D forum, but this seemed a
more appropriate place to post this.)
THE FOLLOWING IS AN EDITORIAL COMMENT, AND THE PHOTOGRAPHS ATTACHED
HEREWITH ARE CONSIDERED PART OF THAT EDITORIAL MATERIAL. (Gotta
cover my butt legally!)
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of doing a shoot for a local
modeling-escort company. Needed to do some shots of 4 young
ladies. While doing the shoot at a local public beach, we actually
got harassed by a woman for doing the shoot!
The shoot was very tasteful (bikinis and "boyshorts" as the girls
call them). While doing the shoot, a woman who was about 200 feet
away came over and started snapping photos of all of us with her
camera phone. She started yelling at the girls that they were
demeaning themselves for allowing such photos to be taken, came
over to me and I explained that the ladies were cover per local
regulations, and that we had an absolute right to be on the beach
and taking photos. She started in on me, saying they could have
picked a better looking photographer...I laughed at her, because I
was married to a hot internet model and adult video star until
recently (I left out the until recently part!), and then asked her
to move on. She then stated that what we were doing was obscene,
and she was calling the police!
I then grabbed by phone and made like I was calling the police
myself, "explaining" the situation, and the woman hauls a** away
from us, grabbed her hubby and kid and left the beach! (However,
realize that I WOULD have called them if necessary.) I was almost
rolling in the sand, it was so funny. We finished the shoot, got
some great photos, and left.
Here are a few of the shots, including a couple of the harasser!

My point....no matter what, stand your ground. There have been
many articles of late about photographer's rights. If we don't
stand up when confronted, we will simply encourage people to walk
all over us!

--First, These women, their looks and potential occupations
notwithstanding, were no more exposed that anyone on the beach
today not fifty feet from where I sit. They have every right to be
in their swimware and have their pictures taken. I see no reason to
presume Tom doesn't know whether he needs a permit or not. The
problem is that these women did not coincide with the other woman's
sensibilities. In my opinion, big deal! I may not like purple cars,
non-Harley-Davidson motorcycles, kareoke or Republicans, but I
don't have any right to tell others they shouldn't like them. (OK,
I keep trying with the Republicans) Just kidding. Seriously, just
because one doesn't like something doesn't mean it's wrong.
Second, What does it say about me that I recognize Tom's ex?

--She was also practicing her right to free speech. Your freedom to
do a photoshoot of hoes doesn't protect you from someone objecting
to it.
I'm not taking a stand for or against what you did, but everything
we do might have consequences that we don't like.

The lady was of course. She was over the top. At the same time the photographer really should make an effort to find a spot away from those who may be offended. So tell me, who is trying to force people to conform to their point
of view?
To be honest, after a day of looking at this thread, I guess that I
will finally confess it all seems a bit sad to me.
At the center of it all, as I look at it, are these 4 quasi-ugly young
women that are in such dire economic straights that they need to
be meeting up with men they don't know, for an hour or two, for
money.
One says "escorts", but we all know what it is usually all about. Not
that I think prostitution should be illegal, but it's a sad business, I
think.
Even in those cases where the women in question is never beaten
up by some psycho, which also happens sometimes, it's still a sad
profession, I'd say. Worse than working as a gravedigger or on the
back of a garbage truck, in my opinion.
So right at the root of it, there's that sadness.
Then there's the woman that bothered the photographer. She seems,
from the photo, like a bit of a fruitcake too. Another sad story, her
life, quite probably.
And then there's Tom, the author of it all. Describing his ex-wife
as "a hot internet model and adult video star" ... but one would
hope her qualities went beyond that. That is to say, a good friend,
a kind hearted woman... et cetera.
And I still find it shocking that one can do what is clearly a commercial
shoot at a public beach, without any permit, in Virginia Beach, VA.
Although I see nothing wrong, if no permit was really required, on
the photographer side. And the woman probably should have
minded her own business ... but still, all around, from several
different perspectives, it's not an especially cheerful thread.
Wow...your words expressed my feelings pretty much exactly. I will add this: The brain can acquire all sorts of beliefs, perspectives, and attitudes. The one good thing about this post is that it inspired me to be careful about "feeding" my brain as much wholesomeness and quality as possible; it's like the computer term: "Garbage in, garbage out."But here in "Open Talk" it's probably on topic, so who am I to say
things need to be cheerful. And I'm not saying that. I'm just
saying it seems a bit depressing.
Could someone please post some penicillin pictures?
