Harrassment at Beach Photo Shoot!

The girls were escorts and private models, not hookers (at least, that is what their contract with their company says!) The purpose of the shoot was for advertising in some of the local adult magazines and the yellow pages...hence, nothing very provocative.

The woman seemed very frustrated when I countered her claim about the police, illegality etc, so I guess she was trying to get to me by attacking me personally. I kept a cool head throughout, mainly because we were doing absolutely nothing wrong! but, since she wanted to try to rile me up, I just countered it. While it was 'sort' of a lie I figured, what the heck (The lie is that I am currently divorced from my ex, but she was all the things I mentioned!) I love being in a battle of wits with an unarmed person!! :) And that woman was DEFINATELY unarmed!!!!!!

Thanks for the comments.

Wow... I need to try to get into that industry somehow!

Cheers,

Here is a photo of my ex...you decide! :)
Thanks for the comments!

...to do a commercial photo shoot at a public place? If so and you had one you could have told the kool-aid drinker to write her city council member...

Regardless -- she was acting like a vigilante -- and I would have had the same reaction as you -- if she was really concerned she should have called the police -- in which case you have produced your permit -- what's next, the puritans don't like the way we hold our cameras...

she came over was because her husband didn't want to see them any more, but was too repulsed to go over and say anything.

If the ladies were hot by any stretch of the imagination, the husband would have talked his wife into staying.

If we had "set up" like a location studio, reflectors, fan machines, lights, etc, yea, we would have needed a permit. The city is kinda vague on some things, so we tend to keep it simple. It's funny, I have been shooting this stuff for almost 10 years, and never had an issue...heck, one time, we actually had some cops watching...I guess they were hoping for a bust....(pun intended). But, we kept things professional, nothing showing, and we never had an issue.

Thanks!

No comments on your ex, if you were in love that's all that matters, sorry it didn't work out for you...

As for the "Escorts" men pay for beauty not skank when they spend money on escorts, (most of which are high dollar hookers) they want that GFE experience even if not getting sex, they pay for conversation and company. These gals are not there, they are chunky street girls and anyone handing them money for a date is only looking for a 2 hump, pump and a rollover before heading for the door... Sorry they can say what they want, look at erotic services on http://www.craigslist.com and see just where these 4 fit in the pecking order...

I'm not saying the gal should have gotten in your face but I think it's obvious why she did...

I tend to agree with you...they screamed "sleazy" as well, but I am just the photographer. It is amazing what the people around here will pay for. none of those gals did a thing for me! I guess beauty is in the eye (drunk or otherwise) of the beholder! (smile!)

Thanks for the comment!

1. The woman who harrassed you was bonkers and should mind her own business.

2. There's no accounting for taste.

...what do hookers have to wear these days so people will know they're hookers?

Here in southern California you'd get nailed for a permit in a heartbeat... but the proximity to Hollywood, Hollywood-wannabe independents, film schools, big ad agencies and the porn industry have made people and government a lot more sensitive to (or greedy for $$ from) commercial shoots. I've had San Diego cops ask me leading questions trying to get me to admit commercial intent when it was just me and a tripod.

L.A.'s EIDC, the people who issue film permits, will even LIE about what a permit is required for--the law explicitly says commercial only, EIDC has a special permit class for amateur still photographers, saying anything beyond family/tourist snaps requires a permit.

I understand blurring the twit's face--legally you'd be fine showing her, assuming this is an accurate account of what she did. But this is exactly the kind of person who, if they had the spare time and dough, would find some lawyer to tread the edge of abuse of process to make your life expensively miserable even though they'd eventually lose.

First, These women, their looks and potential occupations notwithstanding, were no more exposed that anyone on the beach today not fifty feet from where I sit. They have every right to be in their swimware and have their pictures taken. I see no reason to presume Tom doesn't know whether he needs a permit or not. The problem is that these women did not coincide with the other woman's sensibilities. In my opinion, big deal! I may not like purple cars, non-Harley-Davidson motorcycles, kareoke or Republicans, but I don't have any right to tell others they shouldn't like them. (OK, I keep trying with the Republicans) Just kidding. Seriously, just because one doesn't like something doesn't mean it's wrong.

Second, What does it say about me that I recognize Tom's ex?
