Good Morning All!

(Normally, I hang out in the Canon 30D forum, but this seemed a more appropriate place to post this.)

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EDITORIAL COMMENT, AND THE PHOTOGRAPHS ATTACHED HEREWITH ARE CONSIDERED PART OF THAT EDITORIAL MATERIAL. (Gotta cover my butt legally!)

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of doing a shoot for a local modeling-escort company. Needed to do some shots of 4 young ladies. While doing the shoot at a local public beach, we actually got harassed by a woman for doing the shoot!

The shoot was very tasteful (bikinis and "boyshorts" as the girls call them). While doing the shoot, a woman who was about 200 feet away came over and started snapping photos of all of us with her camera phone. She started yelling at the girls that they were demeaning themselves for allowing such photos to be taken, came over to me and I explained that the ladies were cover per local regulations, and that we had an absolute right to be on the beach and taking photos. She started in on me, saying they could have picked a better looking photographer...I laughed at her, because I was married to a hot internet model and adult video star until recently (I left out the until recently part!), and then asked her to move on. She then stated that what we were doing was obscene, and she was calling the police!

I then grabbed by phone and made like I was calling the police myself, "explaining" the situation, and the woman hauls a** away from us, grabbed her hubby and kid and left the beach! (However, realize that I WOULD have called them if necessary.) I was almost rolling in the sand, it was so funny. We finished the shoot, got some great photos, and left.

Here are a few of the shots, including a couple of the harasser!

THE HARASSER:
First started harassing me:

Her expression when I told her I had called the police:

My point....no matter what, stand your ground. There have been many articles of late about photographer's rights. If we don't stand up when confronted, we will simply encourage people to walk all over us!

you think he's going to get arrested or something?

some of you guys are such scaredy-cats. all prudish and hung up on just about everything.

this guy doesn't need model releases to post any of these images.

where on EARTH do you get your information, bob?

While this womans response was clearly over the top and you do have the legal right to be on the beach just as she does, I hope that you can have some respect and understanding for families on the same beach. Making a little effort to shoot provacative pictures in an area farther away from families should not be too hard and should avoid any conflicts.

There are often local regulations for shoots on beaches and parks that require photo permits or proof of insurance. Avoiding or diffusing a confrontation like this could avoid a meeting with the Police that might result in a ticket or interupted shoot.

Well, I know they paid LOTS of money to access my ex's site at Southern-Charms when we were together, , but she was gorgeous! These gals were just local models and escorts. The photos were for their advertising here in local adult magas.

Either I am too open minded, or I am just missing something...they are all covered per local ordinances (yes, we have flippin' ordinances about beachwear!) and such. Is is because they are grouped together? because they are all women? WHAT is the perceived problem? heck, I see more walking down the Boardwalk around here than what these gals are showing!

Well, we made a point to be in an area that had more construction going on than anything else, to avoid any potential problems. Yea, the woman clearly went over the top. I could understand if the girls were performing simulated sex acts or something like that, but they were simply POSING! Nothing really provocative. Maybe she just didn't want her hubby to see them...? (smile!) I simply pointed out that we had a right to be there, just as she did...even that she had the right to take pics....and that I had the same right! because we were not "setting up" per se, we did not need a permit to be on the beach. If we had needed wind machines, diffusers, etc, then I would have needed one. It was just a simple bathingsuit shoot. Fun too!

BTW, I greatly appreciate everyone's input...CONSTRUCTIVE comments certainly go a LONG way in helping everyone out!

Take care!

Sorry, I'm far far far from being a prude, but if I saw the
'models' posing like that on a public (i.e. family) beach I'd have
something to say too. Time and a place and all that jazz.
If I saw it I'd be there very EARLY the next day.

YMMV

Tom,

Your actions were proper and respectful. The intruder was trying to make herself feel good. Most people would have just shut it down to avoid the confrontation.

I'm CONSTANTLY amazed at the hypocrisy in this country when it comes to these sort of issues. Did you ever wonder why the US produces more porn than any other country in the world? Is it because of attitudes like this.

My daughter just came from holiday in the south of France and was amazed at the number of middle aged women on the beach that were topless. I asked her if it bothered her and she said it did sort of. We have not made a point to be particularly puritanical with her upbringing. Quite the opposite in fact.

I just don't know.

Bare breasts never killed anyone, but senseless violence does so every day.

Those images are TAME compared to the normal goings on at public beaches.

If your going to be offended at THESE images, then you are living in a constant state of outrage.

Which is bad for the digestion...:)

In New York, Courts have ruled that woman can legally go topless.

Why?

Why don't men cover up?

Bingo.

Years ago, at the elementary school's back-to-school night, I saw an out-of-shape wife yank her hubby to the car when he casually announced that he was going to introduce himself to their child's new sweet-young-thing teacher.
