I still can't find cheap 707

I don't live in the USA, so can't advise on dealers there. But what I*have*learned over many years is that the cheapest ain't necessarily the best. The question you should be asking is - who provides the best pre-sales service, knowledgeable sales staff, return without problem if there is a fault, ease of return under guarantee(do you have to box and ship, or can you take it in locally) etc, etc, etc.

Any idea where should I get this 707 with cheap ?

I gave up trying, went to a good Camera shop and plunked down the $950 plus tax last Friday night(a little under retail). I'm not going to risk a grey market model for that kind of money, and I'm not selling my soul and jumping through ridiculous rebate hoops. I went into the city and some guy actually tried to suggest a digital camcorder that takes stills, "it's just as good"(his words) I went to a large independent camera shop, and it was pretty cool. The staff was really knowledgeable (won't get that at best buy) and I feel like I have a nice place to go back to for accessories and other cameras. Good luck whatever you do. It's one heck of a camera.

I heard that Sears deal isnt working in many places and youd have to have the AM Exp card.I bought mine at Ritz yesterday thru MSN.The MSN deal only lasts a few more days but Ritz may use up its allowable quota and drop out any minute.Use your Am Exp card to get up to an additional $250 off by comparing to A.M Photoworld $789 or cheaper comparison (which there should be even more of right after Christmas,I couldv waited till after Christmas to buy but with the MSN pre-christmas promotional and the Am Exp price guarrantee i may have come out the same anyhow.By the way ,Ritz gives free shipping,no tax and a 1yr warranty which Am Exp doubles. So $999-100 MSN-$250 Am Exp rebate=$650 total. If you dont have Am Exp blue card and dont have a prayer to meet the deadlines and must buy before Christmas i thought the best deal might be at Targetshopper.com for $808=49 ship (tax?) They dont have an established reputation but the camera has a 1yr US manufacturers warranty and they have a phone # 1888-827-4382 (By the way Ritz has a 9 out of 10 established reputation and a guaranteeing free delivery before Christmas) The 2nd best deal (if you insist on a 1yr US manufacturers warranty) (as i would) might be Digital Dealz.com who have a poor reputation,i think 2 out of 10.1888-599-5669 They dont list any accessories and want $795=19.95 ship (tax?) prices can change,Target shoppers price went up on Monday from its price on Friday.I think itl drop some after Christmas tho.I wouldnt have known anything about MSN ,Am Exp or even 707 if i hadnt discovered this forum in Late Nov so ,hope somebody gets a last minute bargain.Dan

careful, guys - if you read the warranty info carefully, you'll see that sony only has a 90 day warranty on the F707 - that's why i paid extra on the Sears' PPP for extra 12 months. Please don't assume that everything you buy comes w/ at least 1 yr warranty.

I've recomended three posters to my account rep at a very large, reputable firm. I've done business with him for more than five years. He sold them 707s for $880 plus shipping. Back ordered today, but new shipment due in about a week.

I don't want to list his name here. If you want to talk or write to him, write me at [email protected].

Thats 90 days parts,1yr labor(standard USA manufactures warranty(Sony)in writing) x 2 = 6mos parts 2yrs labor free.Dan(But do be careful with those unestablished or bad rep companies, you have much more protection using a credit card and my experience is Citibank wins most diputes for me.Fleet,Am Exp dont.Dan
