need review on pro eos slr

you read the reviews here of the Canon 30D or 5D or the Nikon 200D. A lot depends on what you want to shoot. If you shoot a lot in lowlight without flash, the Canons are hard to beat. Maybe read the cheaper 350XT.

this is dumb, but like a fool, i'll play into it.

if you are doing this as to find out if your canon is the best brand out there, i think it's clear from the hits this site gets, as to what people are buying.

a professional would almost always know what he/she NEEDS and then look for cameras that would fit those needs.

Since you didn't tell us any of your needs, your question doesn't really make sense, because we can't answer it.

It's like walking into a car dealer ship and saying, "what's the best car for me and why" and not saying anything else.

grrr

With respect, if you have to ask this question on this site, you are not in the market for a pro dslr. I am sure that pros know which sites to check out for information such as this.

Cheers

With the wealth of information you supplied us, it's obvious to see you need the following:

1DsMkII
16-35 F/2.8L
24-70 F/2.8L
70-200 F/2.8L IS
400 F/2.8 IS

Don't forget to post your first picture from each lens, even if it's blurry, has no composition, et cetera. (Lol, TheBulbMogul rocks!)

Ok, ok, so I'm teasing. Well, you didn't say squat about what information you needed, so what can you expect? You've already FOUND a forum for photography, with great reviews. Why would you need to ask this sort of question? If you can't figure out a google search, you can't figure out a pro SLR camera.

I didn't see anything that could not be competently photographed with a 30D or 5D.

I appologize if the following comments don't fit your situation and current state of understanding but you've given us very little to go on so I'm shooting in the dark.

Get the 5D. It has the same user interface as the 30D you already have -- so you would have a first line and backup camera that are consistent in their usage. Your lenses will work on the 5D in the same manner they worked on your film camera -- no surprises. You also get the benefit of the crop factor on longer lenses if you use the 30D with that in mind.

If you shoot a lot of sports (and I just happened to miss that) and feel you need 8 fps then the 1D mkIIn makes sense for you.

I would strongly suggest that you look carefully at the processing end of digital photography. Namely: get a good quality monitor and the equipment to keep it calibrated. Invest in Photoshop CS2 and spend some time learning its "ins & outs". Perhaps a class or two in Photoshop wouldn't go amiss.

Assuming that you have existing Canon lenses, take a look at their age and pedigree. If you've had them for awhile or they were consumer lenses that got your business started, it may be time to replace them with higher quality "L" lenses.

Moving from film to digital can be a bit daunting. I've always felt that the best approach was to accept the fact that much of what you've learned with film will stand you in good stead with digitial AND that some of what you've learned with film will have to be re-learned from a different perspective when you move to digital.

Be humble and willing to learn from others' experience and all will go smoothly.

Best Wishes to you,

Ken

He's probably having trouble with the language. ;-D
to getting a more professional model. Obviously, he's not asked
the question clearly enough. We need to know what sort of shooting
he does.
