Amazing shots Ronnie. Are these taken with extension tubes, flash, focusing rails, bellows, close focus diopters, or ??? I have the 300f4 and the D200 but don't get this kind of magnification, albeit I have the older 300/ non AFS so not as close focusing. Reveal your secrets.... Thanks a lot, and again, wonderful stuff!!

amaze.

Absolutely stunning shots.

Well, not really, I love em. But you really make me feel bad. I love my D100 and your images are proof of its capabilities. I must try harder I suppose. Great stuff as usual.

These are simply outstanding.

Answers to a few questions.

Q-I tried photographing dragonflies myself, but they seem to be so sensitive to motion when about 3 feet from them. They just fly away. I guess I need much longer lens.
A-That's one of the benefits of using the 300mm as a close-up lens.
It allows you to maintain a longer working distance from the subject.

Q-Are these taken with extension tubes, flash, focusing rails, bellows, close focus diopters, or ???

A-I use mainly ambient light and extension tubes (a set of kenko tubes), no bellows, no focusing rails and no close focus diopters. I use a tripod for every shot (no exceptions), use the camera's self timer and only shoot in early morning and late afternoon light. I do on occasion use the D100's built in flash as fill.
