First SD700 Images

Very nice shots. I'm in the same situation with my new 700 too! I'm a happy camper so far. I'll try some fireworks shots this evening .......

Wow! You make it look easy. It's amazing to me that something as simple as a bowl of shrimp or a pair of sandals can make a beautiful photo. I'm new to photography and this is very inspiring. I just pick up a Canon S3 IS this week and have been working with it. I hope to some day get results like yours. Thanks for sharing.

I like both the cooked shrimp and the flip-flops - it's remarkable how much those two simple images imply to me if I let my imagination loose.

I continue to be amazed at the nice still life photos posted on these forums - photos that I would never have thought to take. Even when I do try to take such images, I see nothing in them - my own familiarity with the scene prevents my imagination from lending anything to the photo. I like other people's photos far more than my own!

Nice house too BTW!

These are great shots. I'm glad I had shrimp tempura as a late lunch .. else I my mouth would be watering (more!) from these shots.

I'm also happy I have an SD700!

Thanks for all the kind words. I have to say, I when shopping for a new P&S I have realized something, sure all cameras are different and with Canon's current offerings (S3, SD700, A620 etc.) one can argue to no end as to which has the best this or the best that.

In my humble opinion, all these cameras produce wonderful images. In the end I feel one should pick the camera that is right for them, obsessing over softness, sharpness, brightness, sensor size, etc. really is a vicious circle. Look for the features you are interested in, make a decision, and enjoy the camera. Are my pictures perfect? Of course not. What I know is that I like them and I am happy with the results.

Again, thanks for all the input. I look forward to posting more in the future.

Well said !!! I've said similar things, as have others here. We all seem to get too hung-up on all the technobable. The Joy of Photography is all that really matters.
