Here's what the manual says regarding a System Error: "An error has
occurred in the camera's internal circuitry. Cut power by turning
the mode dial to OFF, opening and closing the battery chamber
cover, aned unplugging the optional AC adapter (if used). Then
turn the camera on once more. If the message persists, contact
your retailer or Nikon representative for servicing."
