you guys & gals (plus the current rebate) have helped me decide to order an F30, thanks for the help! now I am wondering if one xD card is better than the other, or if some should be avoided...also if any of you have a favorite case for your F30 let me know...THANKS!

They will all work. The original card was faster than the newer "Type M" and the latest "Type H" is possible faster than the original, and definitely faster than the Type M. (It has at least regained the speed lost with the Type M)

However If the Type H is any faster than the original (its meant to be) The current crop of cameras are unable to use that extra performance.

SO BASICALLY

The F30 does not have raw and you will most probably NOT notice any difference in performance between any of these cards in this camera.

Two things to consider

1 The newer Type H MAY provide better future proofing as the next generation of Fuji cameras MAY be able to use its extra speed.

2 If you already have and use a card reader it MAY/MAY NOT read the Type H as it is the newest one out and cardreaders are notorious for have difficulties with xd cards.

Cheers Darin

I got mine with the Olympus H card, works fine so far, but I am yet to fill it. LOL 1GB is a lot of jpeg pictures.

I can confirm that Type H xD card is faster than Type M. When I bought my F30, it comes with 256MD xD card Type M. I bought one extra 1GB xD Card Type H and it is faster in Erasing, Formatting, Saving and transfering of pics.

Also, I use a cheapo 23 in 1 Card Reader which cost USD 10, no problem at all, at least for now.

Thank you.

I wonder since the type H is faster in writing that maybe in the F30's continious mode the shot to shot delay will be shorter?

NO the time between shots is set in-camera by firmware and or the time it takes to process the shots. The three frames are saved to onboard memory (buffer).

However the time it takes to flush these shots to the xd card may be decreased with a faster card. So it is possible that you may be able to take the next burst slightly sooner.

But this is only a possibility and you may find that the camera just can't write to the card any faster.

PRIOR to the F30 at least, fuji had no cameras on the market that could make use of the (if any) higher speed of the card. Thats not to say that a cardreader may able to when transfering images to a computer.

Darin...

The 40frames shot-to-shot on the f10 i'm pretty sure focuses and meters between every shot, so yeah I doubt the speed could make a diff
