NEW Pentax Rebate

http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/scms_docs//Essential.rebate.pad.L1018.pdf

That’s it - that's the rebate form I saw this morning in a store that doesn't carry the camera body only sku (Brandsmart - maybe not so "smart").

Beach Camera has the body only for $412 - $100 = $312 plus $89 for the Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens = $401 total for the package (plus $9.95 shipping). That's still only $24 more than I was expecting for the kit after rebate and a savings of $56 over the kit price without any rebate.

Bottom line: the *ist DL is now $56 cheaper than last week instead of $100.

Funny how $367 seems so much less than $411.

Hi, first post here. :)

I noticed on Tristate Cameras website that they show the kit having the $100 rebate as just the body. Since the lens and the body come packed in the kit box in thier own individual Pentax boxes maybe the necessary SKU is on the inner box?

I just bought a DL kit from Beach, it arrived on Tues. I am disappointed to not be in the right time frame to recieve the $100 off. I may call them Monday and see if there is anything I can do.I may return it and rebuy since I bought it as a gift for my husband and it has not been opened yet, I'd still save about $60 even with the 10 % restocking fee.

Rsmas, maybe they would be willing to credit your card and then rebill, w/o having to actually return the cam. Might be worth a shot. Ask for Customer Service Manager if/when you call.

Out of curiosity, I checked BuyDig.com, where I bought my DS this time last year. They have the DL in stock for $412, which means $312 after the rebate. That's the body only, but that's a great price!

It's too bad my Pentax SF-1 film camera died last year instead of this year -- I could have either saved a lot of money and gotten a DL, or I could have waited and gotten shake reduction in the K100D. Oh well -- that's high tech for you!

PS: I have no connection with buydig.com except having bought my DS from them.

PENTAX offers multiple product codes for the *ist DL to accommodate
the various configurations for the dealers. The one common denominator
to all the configurations is that there is a # 18426 *ist DL body box
packed with any of the product code configurations.

To qualify for the rebate, the consumer must send in the # 18426
*ist DL UPC bar code from the body box packed in any *ist DL
configuration regardless which product code configuration was
purchased.

I sure hope this clears up any confusion!

Am I interpreting this correctly to mean that this would apply to body+kit lens, and that the rebate applies to the body, regardless of whether it is purchased by itself or in conjunction with the standard "kit" lens, or any other lens that a retailer might choose to "bundle" with the body?

Great idea Eddie! Thanks! I'll give it a try on Monday.

If you purchase an *ist DL kit configuration you will need to cut out the original UPC code from the camera BODY box located inside the kit packaging. Every kit configutrtion has 18426 *ist DL UPC bar code from the body box packed in a kit-hopefully this helps!

Maxwell Smarts link to that discussion seems to say that the kit would qualify. If so, I might have to do this.

Beach Camera has updated their web site to include the $100 rebate on the Pentax *ist DL with DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens for $467 shipped ($367 after rebate).

I couldn't pass that by before news of this offer hits the various bargain forums and newsletters tomorrow. Once Dealnews, Techbargains, FatWallet, Spoofee, XPbargains, etc post this deal tomorrow I'd expect a "run-on-the-bank" effect for whomever has the DL kit at the lowest price (Beach Camera).

I've had bad experiences with beach in the past, and so has many others. Thanks for the tip it is encouraging, but Beach seems like a bait and switch company anyway. Maybe some of the others will pick it up.

The rebate works if you buy the body or the kit. You just don't get a bigger rebate for buying the lens. If you want a body buy it you will get a check for $100. If you want the kit buy it. You will receive a check for $100. Pentax US has to assemle all the kits anyway. The kit box holds a body box and a lens box in it. You could take both boxes out and set them on a shelf for sale. They are finished looking boxes. The Pentax rep told me to order more kits for this promotion. Just don't miss out. They can't last long at this price.

I ordered from Beach yesterday and got notice that they shipped it today. Never received the expected call trying to upsell like I did when I ordered in the past from their sister company, Buydig. Great deal, $367 after rebate.

Other than the attempt to upsell, which they didn't really push that hard, I found dealing with Buydig in the past to be just fine.

Body + Kit Lens @ $467 (Beach or Butterfly), less $100 rebate = $367
50-200 Pentax Lens @ $223 (Buydig), less $50 rebate = $173
Total price = $540 after rebates. Seems a real bargain.

Anyone have any experience with the two lenses listed above?
