Where are you accessing this rebate from. Do you have a link?

Pentax USA has the optio rebate starting July 1st already posted. only a mater of hours for the DSLR rebate

However one our elctronic suppliers WHOLESALE catalog came in just this month

We can buy ist DL for 499 with kit lens
Now you say 100 rebate meaning cost 399
WOW why would I got NIKON??

So let me get this straight. The DL kit is selling for $467 at BeachCamera. Tomorrow, on July 1st, there will be a $100 rebate. That makes the kit price $367?

This sounds to good to be true. Do you think retailers will jack up the price when the rebate is announced?

I was set on buying the Rebel XT, but for almost $200 less I don't know if I can justify that decision anymore....I could use that $200 saved on better lenses.

Beach Camera is probably a registerred Pentax dealer, right?

I think so,as they actually have Pentax rebate forms on their website, but you should ask them to confirm this, and that the camera you are buying is a US import eligible for the rebate. It can't hurt to ask and it may save you disappointment later.

I doupt they would jack up the prices. They need to get rid of the DL's before the replacements arrive.

B&H is certainly a registered Pentax dealer though, oddly, their kit price is $549.95 and the web site says:

"We are not accepting orders at this time.
We resume full operations 9:45 PM EDT Saturday"

Also, we don't know if the rebate applies to the body only sku - it might be for the kit only. We'll know soon, eh?
 
I glanced at the form briefly but thats what I think it said. They want to move all DLs so that makes sense. It should be on their website soon. Take that Can*n. This "new" Pentax is full of fire. They have the other companies wondering.

Okay; it's 7/1/06, but no mention of the rebate on the Pentax rebate page. Is this a phantom, or the real deal??

Don't know why it isn't up yet but it exists. I have seen the form already. Maybe they don't have anyone working on the weekend!

Well, that is encouraging. I'm already laying the groundwork to convince Mrs. Fasteddie that I really need one of these. Sure can't beat the price of $375 AR, online. I think the Canon S3 is going for $425 or so online...albeit with a 36-432mm lens.

I went to BrandSmart this morning becuase I knew they had the *ist DL kit in stock. Last week, it was priced at $538. Today, it was priced at $598 less $100 manufacturer rebate = $498 (so they raised the price by $60 to offset the rebate).

I asked for a copy of the Pentax rebate form and the salesperson said they only had only one so I could see it but not take it. I pointed out that the Pentax rebate form (which also specifies a bunch of lenses on rebate) was for the BODY ONLY and gave a specific UPC code. I pointed out that they don't sell the body only box and she said, "Oh, that's a problem, huh?" I agreed that they'd obviously have some angry customers who'd be paying $598 for the camera/lens kit and then failing to qualify for the rebate which is for a different UPC code. Yikes.

Circuit City who carries the kit only knew nothing about the rebate. I also called the largest Wolf Camera store in the area and they knew nothing about it either.

So I HAVE seen the form but the $100 rebate is for the BODY ONLY UPC code. Bummer.
 
Still not on their site. The kit makes it much more worth it, I don't have lenses for pentax and just wanted a kit as a second camera......darnit pentax! Nothing their marketing department does ever makes any sense.

Body only.....Checking body prices and kit lens prices I would say that's a deal breaker. I guess its geared for people that have legacy lenses. Oh well.
