How good is the S5600 ???????.

I'm very very pleased with my S5600.

I tend to shoot in RAW to get the best detail out of the cam.

Although the images may look soft on the pc, once you sharpen them up slightly the detail is outstanding. Combined with a 10x optical zoom (17x once I save the pennies for a 1.7x tele converter) it's an ideal camera.

As an example of what can be done with 10x zoom:

This is a 100% crop of a photo of a swan I took last week, the swan was around 7 feet away from me, so the 10x zoom came in to use.

The only thing which is missing from the camera is a flash hot shoe, as I have nowhere to mount my hot shoe spirit level...

cheers

The S5600 (and S602) can't use a standard shutter release cable, right? (The S7000 and S602Z Pro can.)

For real-time shots, a 2-second timer just won't cut it.

Paul,

If you're still on the fence, here are three more ways the 5200 trumps the 7000: ISO 64 & 100, max shutter speed of 1/2000 (vs. 1/1000), 4 ounces lighter.

i used a small tripod and gave it a few seconds of light, so i think the trees were moved by the wind.
