Having a terrible case of "L" Fever as most do when they start out, I received my EF300mm f/2.8L USM just about a hour ago from B&H. Again B&H is on top of there game with next day speedy air delivery. Now I need to mount this bad boy on the 5D and start cranking out those marvelous pictures as in the recent past. I would like to see how to post the picture that shows "WHAT L LENS" I am using. Even the box this thing comes in is of the utmost quality. Cheers, Jerry

Hi Mogul, nice lens.. now lets see if you can use it ;)

Actually, we're now in the same club.. I just took delivery of my very first L lens, the 70-200f4L (cheapest one), after saving for a year and it was definitely worth the wait.

Like many newbies, they feel that having the best kit makes the best photos. After blowing a few grand, and a few lousy shoots, the realisation sets in or they start winging that the equipment is cr*p. It's just how folks are. But if they can afford it, then great... it puts money in Canon's pocket which means more money for R&D which benefits us all. There's lots of old sayings that are as true today as they were back when they were invented, such as "a fool and their money are soon parted" and "a bad workman blames their tools". Give me the most expensive oil paints and brushes and I can tell you now, I still wouldn't be able to paint! (ok, I might manage something resembling Picasso! :) ) Enjoy you new 300/2.8 and remember the old rifle saying... "it's not the gun that makes a marksman, it's the nut behind the butt"
Put a Canon to your head, You deserve it....

... is the controversial kind, if you follow the 1D/5D forum. I don't know what to think, many people think he's just having some healthy fun with us...

In any case, if he can get such nice equipment without starving the kids, I guess more power to him, and eventually to everyone else, as you say.
